Great book with a clever story but absolutely ridiculous ending! Totally at odds with the rest of the tale. I was desperate to find out what happened but when I did I was quite perplexed. 4 stars because the rest of it was really good fun!

I received a free digital copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley.

This is a psychological thriller about a woman who goes on her honeymoon with her husband to the Maldives. While they are there, the husband mysteriously disappears and you are left unsure whether he has been murdered by a stranger, murdered by the wife, drowned or even absconded. This book takes you on many twists and turns throughout, and everything is never as it seems.

I really enjoyed this book, which swaps timelines a lot to help build up the entire picture. You also get different perspectives as the novel progresses. The protagonist is such an unreliable narrator, which leads to you constantly second guessing yourself and not having a clue who to trust, including her.

I will say that the end wrapped up a little too quickly for me, I would have liked everything to have been fleshed out a little more, though everything is explained and you will finish this book feeling satisfied, I personally would have liked a little more. I correctly guessed the ending at one point mid way through the novel, I was never sure though, and changed my mind multiple times after that.

I also think this book had a few pacing issues, as I occasionally found it to drag a little, this was caused mainly by the protagonist spending just a bit too much time on the island for my liking, it all got a bit repetitive.

All in all this book thrilled me, and I will definitely be checking out more of this authors works.

I found this book compelling and well written .…. Young couple go on honeymoon to 7 star resort in the Maldives only for the husband to disappear without trace. The story is written in the present by Jemma the bride, and in the past as narration leading to the events of the present.. 7 years earlier Jemma has met Dan online and in spite of herself she finds herself attracted to him and they become a couple. As we come back to the present in Maldives something has happened that has caused a rift in the marriage and it takes most of the 7 years to tell the story. Twist one has already happened although I sort of saw this one coming.

The present storyline has a menace in spite of the exotic background of the beautiful island; a couple that they meet appear to know more than they are letting on, and the tension is high and thrilling ….. UNTIL the ending, which seems to be quite off beam with the rest of this great book. The conclusion takes us to almost the last few pages where I felt Tina Seskis just wanted to give us a cheap thrill and was really quite incredulous. For this reason, I have not given this book 5 stars. Shame, as I loved well written characterisations, and although I didn’t particularly like Jemma I engaged with her. But why, oh why did it have to end that way?

Thanks to Netgalley for an ARC of this book.

Brilliant, loved this book. Jemma is on her honeymoon, her husband has gone missing. The book cleverly weaves the past with the present. Even early into the book I felt myself saying no I didn't see that! And that is the beauty of the book, each twist surprises you right to the end. I would really recommend this book, I don't think you will be disappointed!

Firstly a big thank you to Sarah at penguin for my copy. I’ve been a huge fan of tinas books and had pleasure of Meeting her around the time her debut book was published.

This is a author that definitely grows with each book .

The honeymoon is everything and more you can expect from this author but also from the best selling in this genre.

This narrative leaves you not knowing who is telling the truth .

Told from different timelines and towards the end different narratives keeping you on your toes.

You feel like you know which direction the story is going but I don’t think there will be many if any that will crack the case.

Jemma is a complex character and I found her difficult to trust at times .

Fast paced with twists and turns making this a very unpredictable read that will have the reader hooked from start to finish !!

Where could her husband vanished to??

And are people who they ever seem to be?

A story of love ,betrayl ,guilt and a lot of mystery .

An excellent book and perfect for those summer holidays. .

I have never read a book by this author. Where have I been!
So Jemma is set up on a blind date by her friend and ends up with her total opposite Dan. But is he or is it really the snobby way Jemma views things that makes the relationship what it becomes?
Some will read this book and champion Dan saying he has aspirations and can see a path with Jemma.
But Jemma is a rather complex character who even now after a period of reflection I am not sure whether I actually like.
To prevent spoilers I will say family dynamics, snobbery and a self destruction button play a large role in Jemma finding herself in paradise with a missing husband.
What follows are many twists and turns which will have you pitying her, hating her and having feelings of indifference towards her.
Where is her poor husband and who would blame him if he had run off ?
This is a page turner which has you glued to the plot.
You do not see it coming at the end although there are very well placed clues throughout.
Be careful what you wish for should be Jemma's mantra.
Thanks to the publisher,Netgalley and the author for the ARC. I am now a follower.
