After reading all the extremely positive reviews of this book I was really looking forward to trying out the recipes. My first reaction after reading the general information was that some of the info on which foods are acidifying/which are alkalizing is at odds with other books I have read and has left me in a state of confusion. I guess that as the wole theory of the benefits of eating an alkaline diet has not yet been scientifically proven there is no "rule" agreed on which foods are which. Still, I was looking forward to trying the recipes. Now I come to problem number 2. I live in Switzerland and quite a few of the ingredients do not seem to be available here. So, I have replaced them with similar ingredients (or at least what I think are similar ingredients). A few recipes I've tried have been tasty but I would not describe them as delicious. Many are just too sweet for my taste. For example, using sweet potato in a Spanish omelette instead of ordinary potatoes makes it sickly sweet. I guess that sweet potatoes are more alkalyzing than ordinary potatoes but that's no good if you can't eat the dish because it's too sweet. Well, I shall carry on trying out the recipes and see how I go. The book is visually very attractive but, on the whole, I am somewhat disappointed. Another thought that comes to mind: How on earth does anyone with a full-time job manage to cook these dishes and have time to spare to eat them??

This book is the most delicious, inspiring and beautiful recipe book i have ever had the fortune of owning, and trust me i have hundreds!

I've never opened a book before and thought, 'I can make all of these recipes and want to!', i have had this marvelous book for just over a week and have lost 3 pounds but not just that, it has changed the way I look at food, eat and prepare. I wake up alert, bright eyed and raring to go - it's life altering!

The recipes are delicious for all the family. My husband, a predominantly fussy meat eater, has consumed everything with relish and loves dinner from this book. It's flavorsome and wholesome.

There are a few ingredients that you will need to get in the cupboards that aren't necessarily the norm, such as miso paste, spelt flour and goats butter, however the vast majority of the recipes have everything you would normally have in the cupboards and I never feel hungry.

I'm looking forward to taking my first steps on to the 'cleansing' week but have enjoyed getting to grips with the lovely recipes and new way of eating.

I have recommended this book to 3 people and would eagerly await a second from the authors
