Homophobia is such a massively controversial topic of debate in our society right now, and the information and discussions available are truly expansive in such a way that it would be difficult to pin it all down in one book. Yet here we have the fundamentals neatly packed together for us to wade through.

As always, I am intrigued by the psychology behind it all and what makes people tick so I appreciated being able to see what exactly homophobia is defined as being and where it stems from, and its roots. One chapter even covers different types of homophobia - I wasn't even aware of such a thing.

My favourite chapter would have to be chapter 3 where I was presented with the ideas that it is possible to `cure' homophobia; a thought which had never really crossed my mind before. Alas, the book continued to show where fears in general come from and how to go about tackling homophobia in light of that and where the roots of it may be in a person. I think Lincoln might just be onto something.

The author has done a great job at taking a humungous topic and condensing it down into an easily accessible read on an often daunting and often avoided issue. You can tell that Lincoln has done his research and gleaned the most essential parts.

Personally, I found this book to be fantastic from an almost `case study-esque' approach, and I learned rather a lot. I believe this book could teach many people new things that media often leaves us ignorant of and think it would benefit those without homophobia just as much as those who turn to this book's pages as a self-help guide. In my opinion this book is most certainly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book, very informative. 27 April 2015

This book covers everything one would need to know when struggling to overcome homophobia, albeit in brief fashion. My favorite part of the book was the second chapter, which went over the causes of homophobia in today's world. This certainly brought to light some aspects of our culture that I was really not aware of. Whether you are struggling with this issue or not, I'd recommend this book as a tool to widen your perspective on a very controversial subject.

Even in this day and age you see homophobia in places like Indiana and in various areas of politics especially with gay marriage legislation. You don't need to be homophobic to read this book. You might just read it to satisfy your curiosity. For example, did you know there are 4 different types of homophobia out there? Whether you are homophobic, know someone who is and need this guide to help with deal with them, or you're just looking for a deeper understanding, then this is a nice quick read for you.
5.0 out of 5 stars Well written self-help about homophobia 1 May 2015

Whether we realize it or not, we have all met at least one gay person in our lives. How we react to those meetings come from deep-seated and irrational fears, the “phobia” part. Through his vast experience, Lincoln shows the reader how to deal with homophobia now and into the future.
