About the Author

When Gemma Halliday was sixteen she wanted to be either a rock star or Marilyn Monroe. Instead, she ended up working as a film extra, a teddy bear importer, a department store administrator, a preschool teacher, a temporary-tattoo artist, and a 900-number psychic before settling on the career of author. Since then, her books have been published in several countries, optioned for television, and have won lots of cool, shiny trophies, including a National Readers' Choice Award and three RITA nominations. Gemma now lives in the San Francisco Bay area, where she loves watching reality TV shows, eating takeout pizza, and shoe shopping. She is also the author of Deadly Cool.

Gemma I have to say with this one you kept me guessing. I thought I had it several times but each time I got it wrong. I would never have guessed it was this person. Suspense, thrill, romance, comedy and action all rolled into one. I've read them all and can't wait for your next book in February 2015. Keep writing Gemma, I don't know what I'd do if you stopped.

You've done it again Emma, another funny homicide mystery with Maddie and Jack and her family and friends getting up to hilarious and unpredictable situations. Party Planner Marco, Maddie's friend is planning twins Livy and Max's first birthday party with over the top consequences, which is hilarious. Love this book and can't wait for the next one.

Easy going read just right for the side of the pool or a flight where you don't want anything deep and meaningful. I've enjoyed all my reads of the High Heels novels. GH goes from strength to strength.

What a change around, Maddie being given the go ahead to investigate by husband. With the twins birthday to also contend with the Ramirez/Springer household is as lively as ever. Once again I couldn't work out who did it!

This series is now predictable. The introduction of twins adds nothing. Getting onto filming lots through a good friend is key - lets hope she doesn't die - not likely bearing in mind she exercises and eats health food. Tempted to give it a 2 star but that always seems mean when an author has put time into writing it. I'd say only buy it on offer or if it's free.

Fun, entertaining and often hilarious, Maddie Springer is fast becoming as much of an addiction to me as Stephanie Plum. The characters shine from the page as people who I would like to be friends with, and stumble their way to solving crimes .... the High Heels Mysteries are a must-read series and this latest one does not disappoint.

I am a big fan of Maddie Springer, and was delighted to find another. Very few authors manage to produce more than three or four in a series, but here we are - number eight and another cracking addition to the series.

Although I have bought the previous books in the series this is the first one I have read, back to front I know, but believe me while it did not affect my enjoyment of this book at all it probably would have been better to read them in order, I was giggling and laughing anyway but I'm sure there were some in jokes that I missed.
I loved Maddie's character, she was so real and another one I want to add to my book BFF's she gets into situations and places with the greatest of ease including getting into trouble oh so easily, I can relate to that, things just happen don't they.
Ramirez is the quintessential cop, but I really liked the way that he was shown to be an absolute marshmallow with Maddie and the twins. He was a perfect foil for Maddie.
And Marco the aspiring party coordinator after all who wouldn't have a snake and a pony at the twins first birthday. Dana who is up for anything in helping investigate, Faux dad, mum, mama and a whole host of other characters that make this one of the best mystery comedies I've read in a while.
Once again Gemma has provided us with writing and characters that will drag you along with them on their quest for the truth, always providing that humour that can't be ignored and a mystery that you try to solve before Maddie can. I always had my suspicions.
I received a free copy for an honest review.
