i bought this and have already made a sock toy for my daughter (a cat), it is such a hit my son wants one too, some great projects which are clearly explained for a novice (aka me) and some more challenging stuff for later. The pictures are gorgeous and its really easy to follow, very pleased with it.The Homemade Home

This a lovely book - streets ahead of others of its type in terms of stylishness and originality. It contains a good mix of more complicated projects and easier "quick ideas". There should be something for everyone. Highly recommended.

This book is definitely in my top 5! Not only is it beautifully photographed by Penny Wincer all the projects are actually really unique craft ideas, with really clear, easy to follow instructions.
This is a book I will refer back to for years to come!

Format: Hardcover
Over 50 projects to make any house into a home. Many techniques and ideas for all around the home. Stylish projects include table linen, storage jar labels, bulletin boards and embroidered scarves. This book does not regurgitate the usual projects - it has ideas. Templates are also included. Clear instructions and photographs. It has a classy look about it. This review first appeared on Karen Platt's book review website.

I have a lot of craft books, although I am more of a novice than anything. I read about them as opposed to doing them. This book is just that little bit more special than others. The projects are beautiful and explained very clearly. I didn't feel patronised at all. The simplicity of all the projects but ability to make them more tricky if you wish is useful; and I think the best thing about it, is that the ideas and the style of writing really inspires you to think for yourself and go your own way. I have already made some tea light holders and have about twenty other projects tabbed to do. Plenty of variety too for non sew-ers. I got this from the library but feel I may have to buy it.

I found this book quite inspirational and finally I was motivated to decorate and stylise my flat based on some of the ideas contained in this wonderfully written book. I used it as a starting point to give me a direction to go in rather than following the exercises exactly - and found it superb for this. I am sure some will want to copy the exercises. Some were not for me but I appreciate the ideas and advice. From decorating vases to reviving pillows and napkins - we are still working with it - so good is it I decided to write this review ! ( don't write many ) I plan on giving this to my sister and mother as xmas presents !
Most enjoyable and worth every penny (cent) !

Having been given this book as a present, I was thrilled. It looks gorgeous, photos and lay out really stylish. A real coffee table book. But it's inside where the real treats lie. The ideas are much more accessible than say 'Kirsty's Homemade Home' and for a real dufus like me it's easy to understand & to make. I have really gone to town having made several of the projects already. Am now setting my sights on the deck chair covers!! Wish me luck. This is an excellent buy whether as a stylish gift or as a treat for yourself. Get making!!

These projects are really different to the normal regurgitated craft book fodder which I seem to choose.
Individual, elegant and totally inspiring. Its a visual treat, The photographs are gorgeous (I want to live in that house) and the drawings are really cute too. Something for everyone.
I just wish I could remember where I last saw my sewing machine.
