Product Description

Homefront: The Revolution is an open-world first person shooter where you must lead the Resistance movement in guerrilla warfare against a superior military force. A living, breathing, open world responds to your actions - you and your Resistance Cell can inspire a rebellion on the streets and turn Occupation into Revolution, as oppressed civilians take up the fight. But your enemy has the advantage - superior technology, firepower, heavy armour and air support. You must learn the art of guerrilla warfare - ambush, sabotage, infiltration, deception - and fight a running battle through the war-ravaged suburbs of Philadelphia. And the single player campaign is just the start - in Co-Op you and your friends can form your own Resistance Cell and become renowned as Heroes of the RevolutionStory : Four years into the brutal military occupation, America is on its knees. Philadelphia - once the birthplace of Independence - has become a ghetto, where surveillance drones and armoured patrols keep the population at heel, crushing any dissent with savage force. Her once-proud citizens live in a police state, forced to collaborate just to survive, their dreams of freedom long since extinguished. But in the badlands of the Red Zone, in the bombed out streets and abandoned subways, a Resistance is forming. A guerrilla force, determined to fight for their freedoms despite overwhelming odds and ignite the second American Revolution. But Freedom always has a price…

Apologies if this review is too long - I normally don't write any but I feel that my experiences need to be shared with others in the hope that you won't suffer them like I did. I will start by saying that I pre-ordered this game over a year ago and I was pretty excited when it finally arrived. It didn't take long to install onto my console and I was playing within 5 minutes of opening it - not knowing that this would be the last I would see of speedy loading times.

My excitement soon turned to disappointment due to the amount of glitches and bugs found within. The first, (and probably most annoying), is the tediously long loading times for Single Player. These started to appear the second time I tried to play and have been around ever since. It takes in excess of 10 minutes most times and now it seems to be at the stage to not load into it at all! On the rare times it did load Single Player I had to contend with the constant freezing - whatever you do, whenever you do it... the game will freeze. Visiting street merchants, gun lockers, even completing and accepting missions. Sometimes it unfreezes instantly, other times a restart is required - but if you do that you face the long loading times again.

The enemies have a tendency to spawn and de-spawn at random. It doesn't matter where you are or what you are trying to do. You can enter an area with no enemies, then you turn a corner or go up some stairs and - BOOM! - they are all over the place. Not much to say about transport, other than the fact that the only vehicles available to your character are bikes which have terrible handling and seem to get stuck rather easily in places they shouldn't get stuck in.

From a technical perspective this is the worst game i have ever played. The screen stalls for between five and ten seconds every time you exit a menu, reach a checkpoint or complete a mission. I recently played Quantum a Break - a game based on manipulating time - and it is no exaggeration to say that i spent much longer suspended in time whilst playing Homefront.

The mission structure of the game is also quite terrible, and based more around capturing zones, through what in a Far Cry game would be optional side-content. There wasn't much in the way of exciting, stand-out missions. This wasn't helped by the poorly-written, poorly-acted characters. A game based within an enemy occupation should offer a lot of scope for interesting narrative moments, but there were none.

The game's world is the real star here, though elements seem to owe a lot to another Deep Silver-published game in Metro 2033/Last Light. Only nowhere near as atmospheric.

I would advise going anywhere near this game until a stabilising patch is released... and even then i'd advise waiting until it's in the bargain bin.

Paid £44 for this game, and i now feel like crying. The game is terrible. I really enjoyed the first game back on the 360 but this is nothing like the first. The free roam is so terrible, the graphics aint the best. Only bought this today and going straight back to game shop tomoz in exchange for a better game. I would not buy this game again even if it was in the five pound bin!!!

First off the graphics in this game are pretty good on the eviroment and certain characters and the combat is imersive and makes you feel like a real resistance fighter but unfortunatly that is where the good points end.Everything you do whether its buying from a merchant autosaving changing weapons accepting jobs the game freezes sometimes for a couple of seconds or a minute or two.The main character might as well not have a name because he's a mute and has no decision on how the story progresses kinda reminds me of bf4 campaign brady what should we do now brady what do you think I DONT KNOW CAUSE I CANT BLOODY SPEAK anyway i've gone on long enough so what i'm saying is if you really want to play this game then rent it or wait for a sale cause at the current price it aint worth it.

What a mess of a game I can't believe they decided to release a game in this condition it's close to not really being playable it freezes all he time from upgrading weapons to just moving around.
Don't buy it's a waste of money it has more use as an expensive cup stand than a game.

Never since the days of the X-Box 360 have I felt like I have been robbed blind by buying a game so broken even super glue won't fix it. Where to start...sluggish frame rate, poor animations, graphics that even last gen would baulk at, poor gun mechanics, a never eve,r ever, ending story with so many extra tasks that makes you weep, s...l...o...w load times...oh God the list just gets bigger the more I think about. PLEASE BUY DOOM INSTEAD.

Very disappoint really, that's all I can say. I pre-ordered it after a friend of mine was raving to me about it and I enjoyed the first one so I thought "Why not?". The initial installation was quick and seemed promising but when I was on the actual game it was a different story.

The co-op, which was the main reason for me buying it, was mediocre and pretty boring - shoot this wave of enemies, move to the objective, shoot the enemies at the objective, claim the objective and repeat. Pretty dull.

The story wasn't impressive, nothing new, seemed like a story I'd heard a million times before! The vehicle (not 's' at the end unfortunately) was poor, I felt like that bit int he first Harry Potter film where Harry's broom starts going mental half way through the Quidditch match - truly awful. There was no proper tutorial, it felt like 'Here's how you move, here's how you shoot, that's a bad guy now GO GET 'EM!'. It was a game that had great potential that was wasted, like the first mission was a convoy ambush and that could have been really good but it just felt poorly executed.

I would NOT recommend this to anyone, maybe if it was cheaper, for like a tenner or something.
