There are two rotating balls under each side and they dont even move up and down the foot. I have a wooden set of rollers set in a small box step thing which you slide your feet over yourself and it is much more effective, similar to this Wooden Roller Relief Stress Foot Massager and just look at the price difference!
Sorry but save your money on this one.
Three stars for being 'OK', then. It wouldn't be fair to say that I don't like it - I just find it rather pointless.
The massaging action is OK. Doesn't do much for me. I think you need hyper sensitive soles of feet to feel any benefit. The instructions say better with socks, but I don't feel much at all with socks. I found also had to press and move my feet over the rollers to get some effect.
I do like the heat function, it will be handy in winter I guess.
Anyway, that's the bad joke that I mentioned in the title out of the way. Unfortunately, the product's a bit of a joke too, though. Firstly, I'm not quite sure how a high pitched squeal that is akin to that of a small dying animal is supposed to help out with your 'chi'. It makes a hell of a racket! When you press your feet against the device, the pitch does fall slightly with increased pressure (unlike when you press your feet against a small animal) but it's still about as conducive to an atmosphere of relaxation as putting on the Eraserhead Soundtrack at a cocktail party and then suddenly turning all the lights out.
Nextly, "Shiatsu"? Are you kidding me? The term correctly refers to finger pressure that is supposed to be strategically directed to pressure points on the feet. Once you stick your feet inside the big muff, you'll quickly discover that there are no fingers operating inside there. As in the case of a humanoid hermaphrodite robot, underneath the muff can be found electronically automated balls. These oscillate on a preset program- without any ability to search out the most important areas. Having once received a proper foot massage from an ex-girlfriend, I can attest that this doesn't come remotely close to the real thing. While my feet felt a little better afterwards than before I started, it was far from significant enough to justify the experience. The idea that this constitutes Shiatsu foot massage holds as much credibility as a teenager who thinks he can rightfully claim to have lost his virginity- based upon ownership of a blow up doll.
