I never even thought about homebirth until someone random I got chatting to at a wedding suggested (strongly) it. I had a low risk pregnancy and am pretty laid back, I did some pregnancy yoga classes and a hypnobirthing course and it all seemed to fit together.
This book was recommended to me when we started thinking that homebirth might be a good option for us. We made a confident decision feeling well informed, and the book makes you wonder why anyone wouldn’t want a home birth! If it’s not safe for you, your Midwife won’t let you have one.
I was very lucky and had a relaxed (relatively!) 4.5 hour labour at home with no pain relief or stitches and delivered a happy and healthy baby girl. Although we had a pool and it was inflated, we didn’t get chance to fill it - but my confidence for Home birth in general which was encouraged by this book meant that I was prepared for birth at home without the water element.
I have to say it totally succeeded my expectations. Its very detailed, and so easy to read. Definitely made my decision about choosing a home birth easier.
I would highly recommended it to anyone who is interested in having a home birth.
