Atomic Rooster were an English progressive rock band, composed of former members of the The Crazy World of Arthur Brown who went on to have two hit singles in the UK charts in the early 70's. Both of which are featured on this release, "Tomorrow Night" and "The Devil's Answer". 'Home to Roost' was released in 1977, as a double LP on the Mooncrest label, a compilation album by British rock band Atomic Rooster. It is made up of material from their first three studio albums. Available for the first time fully re-mastered from master tapes to CD
Talking elephant did a remarkable job remastering this compilation from 1977. never have atomic roosters music from their first three releases sounded so good. i'm not an audiophile by any means, but i've listened to rooster's music enough over the decades to be quite impressed at what is offered here. Home to Roost has great artwork, and talking elephant has updated the liner notes in it. i guess my only real complaint is, was it necessary to make a 2 disc compilation from the first three cds? atomic rooster does have a variety of best of's out in the market of varying quality. if you're not familiar with atomic rooster and want a place to start, i'd highly recommend this release or for those that don't want to own the first three cds, this remastered version is quite good. --Joseph L.
