Product description

About the Author

Jeff King was born in Heidelberg Germany in 1969. His father was shortly thereafter discharged from the Army and the family moved back to the Midwest where Jeff spent his early years attempting to recreate Huck Finn's aquatic adventures . This was just the beginning of Jeff's passion for travel and adventure! He has lived and traveled all over the US and abroad with a current tally of 42 states and 24 countries. Jeff has also sailed in two oceans, two seas and one gulf. Not the kind of person to stay in one place too long Jeff's wanderlust has also lead to a multitude of careers. A true entrepreneur Jeff has lead business endeavors that include importing Art from Bali, Running a Video Game studio, PR for a top Silicon Valley marketing firm and even a brief run for local office as well as starting over half a dozen other small businesses, some successful and others that were more of a, well, "learning experience". But it's what he does when he's not in the office that really makes for an exciting tale. If there is a sense of adventure or uncharted waters ahead you can be sure that he is the first to sign up. From learning the art of Moonshining in the hills of Kentucky to getting lost in the jungles of Central America, fly fishing the Yellowstone river in Montana, white water rafting in the Sierra's or even single handing a sloop through the islands of the Caribbean.

If you're looking for an in depth guide to distilling methods, techniques and equipment then this is not for you. Very superficial and written in a very poor amateur style with far too much personal opinion by the author. Also lacking in decent diagrams/pictures to show still set ups. You could probably gleam more information from a couple of google searches, at least that's what the author has appeared to do quoting Wikipedia in the text??

I bought this book on a whim after reading the introduction. Don't waste your money! The title "Workbook" I found to be misleading, too. The information contained therein is lightweight and frivolous. You would be better served in researching this pastime by using any Search Engine on the web. The advert on Amazon's Kindle page states the book has 86 pages. This is COMPLETELY FALSE. The Kindle copy has 16 pages. I hope he enjoys taking my money for this worthless 'book'.

It was Okay but with our Excise Officers in the UK, we don't stand a chance of making Moonshine from The Home Distiller's Workbook - even for Home Consumption. The best option is to stick with Home-brewed beer. If someone 'does' make moonshine in England it will probably be in some isolated place on the High Moors of Northumberland or in Scotland - which might soon be independent anyway of the Excise Officers of the British Government. If someone else has this book in England or Scotland, they would be foolish to admit they are making Moonshine from an illegal Still - which is relatively really quite easy to make if you have the nous.

I bought it,you would need to be an engineer to follow this book and make anything practical at home, but in reality if it was so simple,I suppose we'd all be Moonshing already.

If you're looking for a quick and interesting introduction to the world of distillation then this is the book for you. Factual and to the point. Clean illustrations also help you along the way.
Mr King should spend a little time on correcting the typos for the next edition though!

Simply explains the process of distilling for the newbie, reasonably well written, some typos, but if you can look past that its pretty informative and pretty simple.
