Product Description

Review

''Who possibly could provide expert guidance through the variety of topics pertinent to a theology of the Holy Spirit - the biblical and exegetical treatment of crucial texts, the historical and theological aspects of the discussion evidenced by major voices throughout 2,000 years of church history, and sensitive conversation with the Pentecostal and Renewal movements? Anthony Thiselton does just that in this crucial and practical work. I know of nothing comparable. The guidance in this volume is something every pastor and student should have in his or her library.'' --Klyne Snodgrass, North Park Theological Seminary, Chicago

''I have often thought that I would like to round off my writing career with a fuller or more complete study of the Holy Spirit. Rather to my relief I need no longer champ at that bit. Tony Thiselton has already done it and left me nothing to do. Thank you, Tony.'' --James D. G. Dunn, Emeritus Professor of Divinity, Durham University

''Magisterial! Brilliant! Erudite! Thiselton provides a sure-handed overview of the biblical teachings on the Spirit, maps the major historical streams of pneumatological reflection, and charts the important trajectories going forward - all as inspired by the burgeoning global Pentecostal, Charismatic and Renewal movements, and in ongoing conversation with their scholars and theologians.'' --Amos Yong, Professor of Theology, School of Divinity, Regent University, Virginia

HASH(0x900a3ac8) out of 5 stars THE DOCTRINE OF HOLY SPIRIT 25 Oct. 2013
By Rubens Pimpim - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
The doctrine about the Person of Holy Spirit it is, no doubt, the poorest of all. Just see what the Creed speaks about Him. So, a scholarship book-level about this doctrine is very welcome.
Anthony C. Thiselton is the theologian appropriate for a project this size, as can be seen in James Dunn's testimony. However, the book is, in fact, a large collection of research of other theologians, and only in the last chapter we see the weight of the Thiselton's participation.
But this does not take away the shine and competence the author. Biblical, theological and contemporary. I highly recommend it.
