It gave me the impression that the writing was more for a film as the flashbacks and flashforwards would be easy to follow in movie style. But the movie (gladly) was completely different and also dropped the Alex character in the book.
At the end there is an Epilogue which I believe is basically saying that Liz is not remembering things correctly - like the first half of the flim - but you never really find out then who lived and who died (you get to know Mike died) and how Liz actually did get out. She believes they all got out like in the first half of the film.
I can see it was hard to adapt this to a flim but I believe it was done correctly. The people who didn't like the flim and appreciate the story, directing and music are most likely people who will like the Scream type movies and watched this expecting that.
Best advice from me if you haven't read the book or seen the flim is this:
If you like Scream type movies - you may not like the book/film.
If you hate Scream type movies - you will probably love the book/film.
An impressive first book from Guy Burt and he was young when he wrote it remember. Some of us couldn't write like that even now so credit where credit is due.
I would love to write a book that gets turned into a movie. I suggest buying both but watch the movie first.
My Rating: 74%
Burt should stick to short stories - the shorter the better in my view.
It was in perfect condition and I've had absolutely no problems with the product.
As for the content of the film, I highly reccomend it to anyone who likes any "Pathe" films. UK films should have their own genre of greatness, I have not met a pommy film I have not loved.
Keira Knightley made a great performance as did Thora Birch. Another considerable mention to any of the Gossip Girl fans out there, this film stars a very young, VERY hot "Jack Bass" so it's worth it just for that fact alone.
