The pictures show that any sense of community in Hockley was destroyed.
Unfortunately nowadays when people think of Hockley, they don't think of a village but of the flyover thus rendering the place as a mere bypass to get to the city.
There was some good information within this book but the author seemed to be (rather annoyingly) a fan of old buses and trams and proceeded to not just highlight the old buildings and who they were occupied by but also named the types of buses that were in the pictures (down to their model and body type). As I said, rather annoying to someone who isn't interested in old transport at the time.
