Product Description

Horror based on the true story of a Texas slave ranch. The plot follows a war veteran who drifts through Texas on a collision course with a nightmare. Still haunted by the evils of war, Trevor (Jason Connery) is confronted with the brutal homegrown evil of the Broderick family at Hoboken Hollow, a remote Hill Country ranch that many visit but few ever leave.

This is another slasher/cannibal story that doesn't include co-eds. A ranch in East Texas takes in transients like a roach motel. They stay alive as long as they work and don't become a problem. The story introduces Trevor (Jason Connery) an an Iraq War veteran, with great expectations, but his he-man part left much to be desired. The cannibal family consisted of quite the colorful cast of backwoods characters, complete with the inbred make-up. The story seemed to move slow for a horror story as events appeared uneventful. Available on several multi-packs. Not recommended as a stand alone purchase.

Rape scene. No nudity.

...as this is barely a film at all. It`s a stupid collection of ugly, violent and cheap vignettes which will not necessarily just disgust and repel but you can be absolutely certain that you will not, as Russell Crowe might say, "be entertained". It`s as poor a film as I`ve seen, and that`s with two usually-reliable performers in Dennis Hopper and Michael Madsen on show as well. Heaven help anyone who enjoys this - not because it`s just plain unpleasant and objectionable - but because it`s awful in the important, "filmic" ways - plot, characterisation, purpose...someone should have held up on ordering another bucket of fake blood to ask the question "Why are we doing this?". If they had, they could have put the camera down, and all gone home to their wives and families, and done something more satisfying with their time.

I loved Hostel, The Hills Have Eyes and The Texas Chainsaw massacre. The reason why I liked them was because they had good scripts, satisfying story lines, the good guys got their revenge, they were fun, and most of all: they had a point.

This is plain sick and nothing else. Sick without reason.

If you like watching disabled people stripped and sadistically tortured with no form of defense- watch this. But watch it in shame.

What worries me is that a fair amount of people were involved in this film's production- and probably enjoyed it. Honestly, this scares me.

I had to switch this off half way through, which is something I never do, but it's truly, utterly awful.

Anyone who watches this film and enjoys it should burn in hell.

This could have been a worth-while, if sub-TCM film. Production values are decent enough and the gore is adequately handled by the FX people. However it is let down utterly by horrific acting. Most of the cast seem to be copying the styles of bad 80's video nasties, not in a humorous way either.
No tension is built, you don't 'feel' for any of the characters (who are all one-dimensional) and the finale is a complete anti-climax. Don't be fooled by the listing of Michael Madsen and Dennis Hopper amongst the stars. Their parts are small and irrelevant. I can only guess they were desperate for work. Supposedly the movie is based on real-life events, as much as anything in Holywood is which is to say barely. Don't waste your time or money on this.

I would recommend this film if you are a fan of scary films, it's not so much scary but some parts are a bit stomach churning, also sick to think that it is based on a true story but definitely worth a watch. Basic storyline to it is that some hitch hikers in America get picked up by a strange family and taken back to work on their ranch were they end up getting tortured and even killed, pretty sick but worth having in your dvd collection.

This was a poor film it was based on true events or so they say but for me it didn't hit the mark one bit. The acting and camera work was very average infact it was terrible, there were a few moments that may please some people but it was nothing that we haven't seen before. Is it worth buying the answer is no save your money for something else you won't regret it.
