The G23SS from Hitachi is a 230mm (9 in) angle grinder suitable for heavier cutting and grinding jobs. Its 1900W motor has excellent overload durability for heavy duty work. The armature coil has extra protection to minimise damage caused by dust and prolong the grinder's life. In addition, the bearing retainers have a labyrinth construction to make the ball bearings dust proof. The large switch has a double action for extra safety. A spindle lock makes changing grinding wheels quick and easy. The front handle can be fitted in three positions for left handed, right handed or vertical use.

I bought this because it was electric and seemed a reasonable size for cutting a few paving slabs here and there.
It has come in useful and I have had no problems with it. I do agree with some other comments in that it has a very aggressive start up, that can catch you off guard. You need to have a frim grip and be ready for the torque as it starts off at full speed. Once you get used to it, it is fairly easy to handle.
With the right blade It is well up to cutting concrete paving slabs. It is fairly heavy and that helps keep the tool stable. Still it is more manageable than my old Makita. You can get it out and start work right away without refuelling and emptying the tank, which is a problem if it is just a DIY requirement
It kicks up a lot of dust and you need protective gloves, mask and eye protection. It is not a tool for the faint hearted, but it is rugged. and has proved very useful. You can tackle all but the heaviest work with it.
I think it represents good value.
and was a fantastic buy works perfect with no problems
my old one had a slow start but this one is fast straight away so took a bit of getting use to
bought this one as hitachi is easy to get repaired if i have any problems with it
Over two months later...
It took a LOT of getting used to and a superior blade but as somebody has suggested, it's a good tool if you're not complacent and give it respect.
SO I've gone from one star to three
