DUCK'S KEY WHERE CAN IT BE?

"The simple story builds up by involving the reader – a like the pantomine 'he's behind you' concept. Interactive fun." Junior Magazine

"For its vibrant simplicity, this bright and bold open-the-flap book is irresistible… will continue to delight for many readings." Guardian

"… will make reading together a hoot" BBC Parenting

DUCK IN THE TRUCK

“With a nod to Dr. Seuss and a wink to John Burningham, Jez Alborough deals an irresistible lesson in rhyme and analogy, as well as storytelling, which is hugely entertaining.” Child Education

“Alborough’s pictures are addictive, combining graphic simplicity with painterly qualities… Duck in the Truck is a picture book where rhyme, illustration, wit and inventiveness combine to produce outstanding quality.” TES Primary

This one is possibly the best, or at least tied in first place with Fix It Duck. Apart from some slightly dodgy grammar ("I can make your team more tall" says Frog!?) this book is a superlative riot from beginning to end. Highly recommended.

Great rhyming story and lovely pictures to go with it. We have read this to both our boys countless times. They love the Duck stories, and know them nearly off by heart - but still love to read them. I recommend the whole series!

Very funny story for younger children. My two year old asks for it every single night at bed-time.

The simple rhymes make it easy to encourage your child to learn new words and help you "read" the story. Our son probably only has a vocabulary of about 50 words, but in amongst those are duck, ball, bat, tree, out, frog all from this one book.

It's such good fun to read that the adult doesn't get bored of it either. Has a nice moral sentiment too, which isn't always the case for childrens' books. Duck gets his just desserts for being too impulsive and over-keen, while frog who is belittled at the beginning of the book becomes the hero at the end.

I bought Hit The Ball Duck almost three years ago when I fell pregnant with my son who's now two. We've been reading a lot of different book before bed time and a month ago I found this little treasure hidden away with a stash of books that I'd been saving for when he was older. Needless to say as 'duck' is one of his favourite words he became excited at the prospect of the cute duck on the cover.

For the past few weeks we've been alternating the book with others, but my son now prefers me to read this one to him twice rather than change to another book. I've made up voices and actions and he spends have of the time we read it with a permanant smile on his face. When we get to the part of the book where Duck throws the bat and the glove into the tree to free the ball, he shouts 'no' and he's the one that says 'bump' before I do when the tower of friends fall down.

I enjoy reading the book and doing our actions just as much as my son though I would say the only drawbacks of this book are the enventual tantrum when I finally say that it's time to go to sleep. I've now decided to purchase the other books in the duck series to make bedtime even more fun.

Easy to read, lots of nice pictures to engage your child & a fairly easy rhyme.
