Another book in the duck series well worth a purchase in our opinion.
The simple rhymes make it easy to encourage your child to learn new words and help you "read" the story. Our son probably only has a vocabulary of about 50 words, but in amongst those are duck, ball, bat, tree, out, frog all from this one book.
It's such good fun to read that the adult doesn't get bored of it either. Has a nice moral sentiment too, which isn't always the case for childrens' books. Duck gets his just desserts for being too impulsive and over-keen, while frog who is belittled at the beginning of the book becomes the hero at the end.
For the past few weeks we've been alternating the book with others, but my son now prefers me to read this one to him twice rather than change to another book. I've made up voices and actions and he spends have of the time we read it with a permanant smile on his face. When we get to the part of the book where Duck throws the bat and the glove into the tree to free the ball, he shouts 'no' and he's the one that says 'bump' before I do when the tower of friends fall down.
I enjoy reading the book and doing our actions just as much as my son though I would say the only drawbacks of this book are the enventual tantrum when I finally say that it's time to go to sleep. I've now decided to purchase the other books in the duck series to make bedtime even more fun.
Easy to read, lots of nice pictures to engage your child & a fairly easy rhyme.
A must have book for any duck fans!

Pleasant enough in its way, and an improving message, but not a patch on the original Duck in the Truck book - not such a fun story and lacks the easy-to-read rhythm of Duck in the... Read morePublished on 11 Jun. 2012 by Dolorous Ett
