I do not agree with the other two reviewers. I have to declare from the start that I am no expert on books published about the Sikhs, but I found this book to be an excellent introduction to the Sikhs and their rise as a powerful nation within India. I bought this book for research purposes for a project of my own and it has been just what I needed. It has to be remembered that it was written in the mid-nineteenth century and as such the way it is written is different from today, but it is easy to read and clear to follow. The Cambridge University Press have reproduced he original book faithfully and there were no defects with my copy. I have the book not the kindle edition. This book is well worth buying if you are interested in the history of the Sikhs and of India in general.
