History of modern part one is actually a collection of "History of modern parts one, two, three and four", with a few other bonus tracks from Orchestral Manoeuvres in the dark. Why did they bother giving it the title "History of modern part one" When there are actually four parts on the disc? I do not know. Hopefully "part one" refers to the CD issue rather than the track titles and hopefully there will be a second release that will be called "History of modern" part two. But lets be clear about it there are four parts. And the CD is very good indeed. Only parts one and two were on the album with the same name that I have on CD so this is a welcome release. Parts three and four are on track three here. Also on this disc there are five remixes of part one. And then there is "VCR" which is a cover version a piece not originally by OMD. Then "The Grand Deception" and "Idea 1". Also there is the track "Alone" that ends the disc but actually the song was released on the single "If You want it".
There is some interesting remixes and if you are a die hard fan of OMD and want to collect everything they release then this is a good bonus to the album of the same name. The remixes are intersting and worth getting and together it makes a good concept. It is almost like an album. The running time and the price actually make it a very good release.

Having been an avid OMD fan since first seeing them supporting Gary Numan on his 1979 tour, I have bought every album, and the vast majority of their singles, for more years than I care to remember. I have to confess, however, that I no longer have my finger on the pulse enough to be aware of every single release, so this disc (is it a single, an EP, or an album?) has come as a bit of a godsend to me, particularly as it has been so sensibly priced.

There are twelve tracks on the disc, the three different "History of Modern" tracks, five remixes of "History of Modern (part I)", including two which are released for the first time here, and four other tracks which have all been released as b-sides to the various singles released from the recent album. These b-sides are all quality tracks in their own right, although the weakest is probably their cover version of "VCR", originally written and recorded by the xx.

Possibly the remixes are not sufficiently different from each other to make this a logical listening choice - it would be a little repetitive, but they are all valid and entertaining versions of a track which would have done justice to the band at their peak.

A welcome opportunity to fill in the gaps in the collection, but probably one for the diehard fans only.

Bought album sometime back so lets call this history of modern the 2nd album or ep if you choose. You get 12 tracks so thats why you may say album ....but 8 of the tracks are history of modern so now is it an ep.Ok what you get is history of modern part 1 and part 2 which is on the earlier album. track 3 is history of modern pt3 and pt4 which you won't have and is a bit of a wierd but typical omd creation.Track 4 and 5 are not my favs but would probably keep the clubbers and dj's happy(you get history of modern pt1 remixes). track 6 is a good version of history of modern pt1 with piano and is a good addition for omd fans. Tracks 7 and 8 is pretty much the same history of modern pt1 stuff ie a remix and radio edit. Track 9 is a version of xx's vcr and is much welcome as the same track gets a little bit toooo much even if you do like history of modern pt1. track10. grand deception 11)idea 1 and finally 12)alone completes the album/ep. The last tracks are are pretty much history of modern era tracks and are decent in their own right anyway.Even vcr is done quite well and is not the first time omd have done a good cover.(eg Krafwerks neon lights for those who remember). Not too overpriced so may tempt more than the omd die hards.

A limited edition EP from the legendary group OMD was offered for sale in my country. However the EP sold out before any compies could make it across the sea. Luckily Sister Ray ltd had one in stock and not only offered a cheaper price after shipping, but got it to my door in under 10 business days. Excellent service.
