Grossly overpriced for what it is - a booklet with poor quality b/w photos.
I wouldn't have complained if it was only a good walks guide, but it isn't. The maps are really bad, so tiny you can hardly read street names, and the line marking the route very cleverly runs over the street names. Directions are vague. One walk is, believe it or not, the Royal Mile.

There are better walking guides to Edinburgh than this but it's not a bad basic guide.

Really lovely little guide to Edinburgh. I enjoy how the walks tell a story and take you through lots of sights and sounds you can easily miss. There's a healthy balance of the classic sights - e.g. the castle, the royal mile, and the parliament - as well as some more offbeat tips for places not often found in other guides. Our tour of the Water of Leith followed by a pub lunch in Stockbridge, as suggested, was the highlight of our trip.

Really pleased to have purchased this gem.

HASH(0x8e2312e8) out of 5 stars Amazing book! 7 Sept. 2010
By Marco - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book has tremendously enriched my travel experience in Edinburgh. It allowed me to see the city from completely different and unique angles which would not have been possible with a regular travel book alone. The walks are described in detail and provides information on all the sites you encounter in your route. At times it felt as if I had my private guide standing right next to me!
HASH(0x8e23133c) out of 5 stars Great perspective on this historic city. 21 Jan. 2011
By Andrew - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Really enjoyed this overview of Edinburgh's history and highlights of the city sights. The guide covers some off beat stops as well as points out some obvious points that I wouldn't have even noticed, right on the main street. Terrific guide - the maps are a bit hard to read in places, but this seems to be a common problem on Edinburgh maps, but for me the content outweighed this tiny problem.
HASH(0x8e231774) out of 5 stars Useful tips and advice 4 July 2011

I used this book on my third visit to Edinburgh, and found some new advice, new tips and got a little under the skin of the city with this guide.

HASH(0x8e231aec) out of 5 stars Waste of time and money 12 Dec. 2010
By K. Brent - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This booklet is a disgrace. The maps are tiny and useless. The photos are black and white, their quality like Xrox. Table of contents pages numbers don't match the actual numbers. As for the walks, some are amazingly trivial, like the Royal Mile (do we need a guide to tell us to walk down the most touristy street in Edinburgh ?) or really off the track. It's the worst guide I've ever bought.
