Beset by the most powerful and unforgiving of emotions, Chelsea and Aidan are mired in a grief that was totally palpable. This their story, was so chock full of emotion that at times, I had to step away, lay my kindle down and head for not only a glass of wine but a tissue.
An attraction that they had long since denied was ready to flicker back to life when they were both least expecting it, when their lives were packed with a level of pain that only living with loss can bring. But when they could no longer face fighting, not only their feelings but their situations alone, they gravitated towards each other in an almost reflex action.
But life doesn’t always give us what we need, it may provide a temporary rest bite but reality is still outside the window no matter how hard you wish otherwise and that was very much the case for both Chelsea and Aidan. I felt they wanted the world to just leave them be but instead it shook them by the shoulders and forced them to man up, deal with the necessities and in doing so deal with their feelings…all of them! By facing the inevitable, they could not only face each other but also face themselves in the mirror each morning.
This was a far from easy route for the author to take, it took some hard topics and tackled them head on. It dealt with emotion at its most vulnerable and volatile and did so with an intensely forgiving and sensitive manner. With elements of doubt and emotional turmoil dotted throughout the story this is a solid read, one not to be taken lightly but certainly not one to be ignored.
Beautifully written and disarmingly accurate, this took grief in all its guises and showed that it is possible to move on.
Hearts heal no matter how long, you just have to be prepared to face the mirror each morning!
I really enjoyed reading this story and I found it well written, maybe a little slow in some places but overall a good read. There are lots of emotions to experience in this book, loss, devastation, sadness, love, hope, maybe new beginnings but through it all the author portrayed the characters really well, I connected with them and their experiences, felt their emotions and I felt like I lived their lives through the pages of this story.
When a terrible accident occurs outside of Chelsea Dwyer's home, things for her will never be the same. Two students whom she knows well, - one dead, one traumatised, she feels sick to her stomach and so sad that the student is the son of a man she has had a crush on for near on two years. Aidan Deveraux is the single father raising an amazing son, now heartbroken, devastated beyond all measure he turns to the only person he feels can help him through this terrible time - Chelsea. He too has noticed and admired Chelsea from afar but never taken it to the next level, but after she had witnessed his son's accident and tried to save him, he feels a connection towards Chelsea like no other.
She feeds him what he needs in his time of despair when others that are closer to him just don't quite understand. The pull they feel is too strong to resist even if this may be the wrong time to explore their feelings, but when will be the right time?
A good all-rounder and one that I would recommend !!
Such a sad story, my heart ached for Aiden and the loss of his son.
I have read previous books and although this can be read as a standalone I would recommend previous books which contains the same groyp of characters, they are all a great bunch of characters with their own story's and supportive friends making each book unique in its own way.
The story involves Chelsea and Aiden told in dual pov's. Chelsea is a school teacher, a divorcee and has her own grief nestled in her past but she's a strong and supportive person and is just the person Aiden needs.
A heartwarming emotional story that Stacey Lynn has the ability to help you get lost in. A plot without angst or drama, contains hot intimate moments a perfect Sunday read that leads to a hea.
Looking forward to David and Camden's story, hoping there's a bit of angst in the next read, Camden's a great character.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book
The author has managed to accurately portray the feelings of devastation and loss so well I cried a lot whilst getting to know Aidan.
Chelsea is a very nurturing woman and she seems to know exactly what he needs, she gives him space whilst being there at the same time.
It's a well written emotional read.
