There is a skill in writing a good short story. Every word has to count, and there is only a short time with which to engage the reader and make the characters come to life. Lia Fairchild is one writer that does this with charm and wit. Her characters come alive quickly, and the plot-lines race along with a pace that is just right. These three short stories are all stand alone, yet each one flows into each other - I defy anyone to read just one; you'll want to read the other two in the same sitting! This anthology also includes a teaser from Ms Fairchild's novel, In Search of Lucy, a romantic drama. I will be interested to see if she is as proficient with a full-length novel as she is with her wonderful short stories! She has also included a story from the anthology With Love - a beautifully written tale with a truly lovely twist at the end (see if you spot what's coming - I didn't!). Finally, there are six excerpts of novels from other authors to whet your appetite - a lovely touch from Ms Fairchild to promote other independent authors. All in all, a delight to read. I shall definitely be purchasing more Lia Fairchild books in future!

A Hint of Murder is a collection of three mysteries written by Lia Fairchild. I enjoyed pitting my wits to the author in trying to figure out the murderers. Ahh, but she is sneakie. I have read other books by the Ms. Fairchild and I like her style of writing.Being an author myself I was tickled with the the plot of 'The Writer'. I like murder mysteries and wasn't disappointed with either of the stories in the anthology. They were well paced, not too gory, and very entertaining. Especially the strange the reasons people choose to kill someone. Loved them all.

A Hint of Murder Anthology written by Lia Fairchild.

A Hint of Murder - The Bouncer.

I really loved this short story it is my favorite of all of them. Why is it my favorite short story ?? I loved the gentle introduction to Lewis and Barnes the detectives, I really got a good feel for them and really liked their characters a good partnership.
I fell in love with Bobby the main character and the ending was awesome. The plot was exciting and I really did not guess who the killer was, I was hooked from the moment I started to read it and it kept me hooked to the very end.

Why should you read this book in summary I do not normally bother reading short stories as I always find that I have difficulty in seeing the characters in my head but Lia has certainly taught me to think differently as her descriptive talent is amazing, I really did see the people in my head as though they were standing in front of me not in a book and the plots are truly amazing and Ii for one will look forward to Lia Fairchilds new book and she is now one of my favorite authors. Lia you rock.

I started this at 10pm one evening - big mistake. Although three short stories, once you finished one, you feel compelled to read the next one so a late night for me but so worth it.

Lia Fairchild very quickly (and cleverly) gives you characters that you want to know more about, you want to know what happens to them and even more, you want to know "did they do it"?!

You won't be disappointed if you are looking for a read with a twist and let us know if you guess who did it before the end!
I'm just about to download her full length novel In Search of Lucy: A Novel

This anthology of 3 short stories is an easy read in that it's easy to pick it up, read one of the stories and then put it down again.

But each story is full of twists and clues that have you trying to guess which of the cast could be the killer each time. The characters are full of secrets and intrigue, and the poor detectives dealing with all three cases have their work cut out to solve each case.

Well worth a read if you like crime thrillers, and a good introduction to Lia Fairchild's writing.
