Michael Landon (Little House On The Prairie) stars as Jonathan Smith, a probationary angel sent back to Earth to help troubled humans with their problems in Emmy® nominated drama Highway To Heaven.
In life, Jonathan had been an aloof and unfulfilled lawyer, but as an angel, he is sent to Earth to bring love, harmony and understanding to people with troubles and in doing so, he learns a lot about his own potential for goodness and compassion. Jonathan has not yet earned his wings and will not be granted them until the Powers Above determine that he has fulfilled his mission on Earth. His first assignment is to help embittered ex-cop Mark Gordon (Victor French Little House On The Prairie). It s not long before Mark sees the light and accompanies Jonathan in carrying out his heavenly missions.

It ran for 5 seasons, finishing in 1989 shortly after co-star Victor French who plays police officer Mark Gordon died of lung cancer. Most believed that Michael Landon decided to end the series after Victor French's death, but by the fifth season the ratings began to fall, and most agreed that the show had run it's course.
All good things must come to an end. Just enjoy the journey.
I would thoroughly recommend,'Highway To Heaven',for all the family to view together - this is good family entertainment.
The series stars Michael Landon as Jonathan Smith, an Angel sent down to earth to do good and so win his wings. He soon finds a human companion soulmate in ex-cop Mark Gordon, played by Victor French, Landon's co-star from Little House on the Prairie. In a similar manner to 'Quantum leap', Jonathan and Mark are given missions by God (The Boss) to advise and help those in trouble overcome their problems and get back on track. It was filmed mostly in California, with the memorable Mark picking up Jonathan sequence set in Tucson, Arizona - the home of Bonanza, Landon's first major TV series break and one of my childhood faves.Read more ›
The good guys win, the bad guys change heart or lose and it makes for terrific family viewing.
Do be aware though, that one or two of the episodes deal with very difficult issues and thus are a bit tough for younger children. However, there is a synopsis at the start of each, so you can decide which is appropriate for your family to see.
On the whole, there's plenty in this series to make the whole family feel good - real good!
Victor French and Michael Landon shine as the two main stars of the series who provide the backbone of the hours of feel-good stories within the boxset.
With an abundance of guest stars from the mid 1980s, the stories contained here really do show how TV has changed today, for the worse.
I never saw the series during it's original airing as I was too young and it seemed boring, although my mum loved it.
This discset is well worth purchasing and I've thoroughly enjoyed watching these stories, which are now nearly thirty years old!
It of course will not appeal to everyone but I must admit I prefer the more professional camera work and lighting used in this era rather than modern programs where they change the camera angle every two seconds and don't use tripods.
Anyway, back to the DVD box-set.
For review, all I got was seven DVD's in paper wallets saying "Technicolor Poland, Check Disc Only" so I cannot guarantee if the finished box-set is the same picture quality or has different extras (6 x DVD9 and 1 x DVD5).
Anyway, the discs I received have a slightly below average picture quality for DVD's (when shown on a 46" TV) with some herringbone patterns in bright colours (many may not even notice, and on a smaller size TV the effect will be reduced).
Subtitle choice is English only and the only extras are just under 3 minutes of bloopers on the final disc.
Aspect ratio is correct at 4:3 for menus and episodes.
