Format: Hardcover
A beautifully presented book, full of lovely photographs. Hawass' credentials are impressive, and he writes in a friendly, accessible way. The book, however, does not go into any real depth - which is a change from the usual Egyptology book that buries you under a mountain of information. (Yes, the metaphor is deliberate.) If you are interested in a coffee-table read which does not demand any prior knowledge, then this is an excellent choice.

4.0 out of 5 stars High quality 29 Aug. 2014
By Glenn D. Robinson - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
Professionally produced, high quality photos and interesting historical information about the archaeology of Egypt. This book is set up to show by the age of the discovery one or two unique finds from the early 1800's to the current time. As much that has been lost to thieves and time, there are still countless finds being made very regularly. While the writer of the book has been discredited, the book itself is a nice addition.

The quality of the photos is extremely high, the page stock is very quality. The only reason I did not give it a five is because the info per page is very short (I rarely give a 5, it has to be a knock my socks off). Would I recommend this? Yes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Review of Hawass' 'Hidden Treasures' 11 Nov. 2010
By Ryan Mease - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This is a stunning collection of photographs and archaeological history presented by a native Egyptian archaeologists. It offers a unique vision of Egyptian archaeology, from the earliest robberies to present-day excavations. Further, Hawass presents some of the best pieces in the Cairo collection, with very informative paragraphs to accompany each photograph.

I've never been a fan of Zahi Hawass; he always struck me as a pompous ass, but this book is absolutely beautiful. The objects shown are interesting and show the full flower of ancient Egyptian culture, and they are beautifully photographed Highly recommended.
