'There is surely a clear place for books of this kind, describing the militancy of a local working population in the wide-ranging context of political and religious issues of the day. Tom Crainey has made an excellent job of tackling this ambitious project.' --Don Martin, Scottish Local History Forum

This beautifully written and informative piece of local Scottish history deserves a wide readership. The courage and conviction of the articulate and learned weavers struggling for democratic freedom in the face of disgracefully callous treatment by self-serving land-owners is inspiring. A great story, well told!
