Format: Kindle Edition
This is a book that offers valuable insights into interpersonal business relationships In Russia, a fast growing country that has not been studied extensively before now, but features in the news frequently. Dr Konovalov has taken findings from a research project and drawn useful conclusions for anyone seeking to understand the drivers for success in partnerships in Russia. Using data from extensive interviews and examples from business, he explains the different types of relationships and what to do and what not to do when building a firm and long term partnership in Russia. The book includes some charming illustrations that lighten the text and also some insightful vignettes drawn from interviews that give depth to his analysis and conclusions. This is far from a dry academic text, even though it draws on the literature but a book that is very accessible and through its use of stories, leaves the reader with insights into the different relationships and how they function in a society in change.
His key message is a plea for those doing business to understand and adapt behaviours to respect the trajectory that has shaped Russian society and its different subgroups and to invest time in building trust.
Russia will be an important economic force for many years to come and this should be essential reading for anyone planning to engage with Russians and the importance of understanding Hidden Russia!

I've read this book with a great pleasure.
After spending many years in Russian and Western countries, the author managed to gather very interesting data on informal relations and trust as well as analyse it in a proper manner.
This book will be an asset if you want to do business in Russia or would like to learn about its unusual culture.
I would highly recommend it.
