Format: Paperback
At last a sensible and well-researched book on dreams not filled with popular myths or prescriptive "one interpretation fits all". Dr Royston quite rightly, in my opinion, stresses the point that you cannot separate the dream from the dreamer, thus interpretation is dependent on what is going on in the individual dreamer's life to be correctly understood. His book contains some very interesting neurological research presented in a palatable format for the layman reader. Whilst Dr Royston does not pretend to have definitive answers to all the mysteries of our subconscious mind, he gently guides us through our dreams in order that we can utilize them as beneficial tools and attempt to understand the messages they carry with them. Even though I have always had prolific and highly significant dreams, you need only be interested the different levels of consciousness to enjoy this well presented book. By understanding our dreams a little more, we can work with them to our advantage and allow them to inspire our creative potential. For myself, I learned to work with my dreams and end a long-standing nightmare I have suffered since childhood by understanding firstly the aetiology of the nightmare and that by lucid dreaming I could effect the outcome. Anyone with an interest in human consciousness will thoroughly enjoy this book. I hope Dr Royston will delight us with more of his fascinating work.
