The term "proxemics" was coined by E.T. Hall himself to describe "space as a system of communication". This book dates back to 1966 and, while some content may appear dated, it still remains a must-read for those who are fascinated by the "language of space" in different cultures. What Lebensraum means to the Germans or why an open-door policy is regarded with suspicion in some parts of the world is explained here in Hall's very readable prose. An excellent book!

THe contents of the book were enlightening and I enjoyed reading it. As I travel worldwide it gave me good information on how to act and re-act with different racial types. However my lower rating was not for the content but for the horrendous presentation.. the printing had a very narrow heading margin, the type was intensely black and tiring to read, The whole book gave the impression of being a rush job with little attention given to presentation. It looked as if it had been printed at home and ina hurry. The authors work deserves better presentation than this.
