aAnother Hallmark coup with this the first Miracles album from Motown's infancy and in all its mono glory complete with the occasional blip defining its vinyl origin. This is real archive gold.

Setting out with "Who's Loving You" and Smokey Robinson's delicate falsetto with a gentle echo from Claudette Rogers later to be Mrs Smokey,
the arrangement is so simple as to be classic and reflective of its origins from the previous decade's harmony groups.

Here, too, you will find the big hits from the early Motown catalogue "Shop Around", Way Over There" and the ubiquitous "Money" that was recorded by just about every Motown act, here sung like a Ray Charles chant.

If you are an archivist of the best of the best of 60s soul buy this little gem and you will be accessing the true beginnings of the Motown phenomenon

By Glenn Cook HALL OF FAMETOP 50 REVIEWERVINE VOICE on 14 Mar. 2013
Format: Audio CD
This original album has been rereleased together with Cookin' With The Miracles together with bonus tracks all of them remastered.

The other album sells on Amazon for under a tenner and is a much better buy thatn this one with suspect sound?

The fact that it has two classic albums and contains
extra tracks and it's sound is a whole lot better than this version makes that a much better choice.

Imagine in 1961 listening to this LP after the 2 great singles Shop Around and Ain't It Love. The 2 opening songs sound pretty turgid as there's not much upbeat here It could have put anyone off but the Miracles singles issued in the U K were sporadic at best and You've Really Got A Hold On Me-which was the Beatles' first immediate cover. No the LP should have begun with Shop Around but never included the follow up.This was on the next LP Cookin' With The Miracles
Anyway this was by no means the first Tamla Motown LP-that was the little known ones by The Gospel Stars (the roots of the Andantes) and the Twistin' Kings who were later known as the Funk Brothers and were the house band
Who's Lovin' You had been the B side of Barrett Strong's Money while Don't Leave Me had coupled Marv Johnson's You Got What It Takes-an LP issued before the Tamla Motown set up got into gear

This CD has pops and crackles all through - it's obviously been recorded from the vinyl LP. Waste of money.
