After a few weeks of wear they're great although I would certainly have tried a size smaller (I'm normally between a 6 and 7). They've been through deep puddles and out in the snow and my feet have been really snug. I love them!!
winter 2013: A year later and I was looking forward to winter so I could wear them. They are not quite as water-proof as they were but as long as I don't wade through any extra deep puddles they're still lovely and warm.
In the past few days I have worn them for 3-4hours at a time in knee high snow and my feet (and legs) were warm, cozy, comfortable and completely dry.
Although these boots are quite heavy for everyday normal use they are fantastic for country walks, snow, mud, puddles etc.
I normally take size 6 (and have wide feet). As other reviewers found, I could not get the 6 on for love nor money, and it did actually look more like a 5 to me. Fortunately I had ordered a 7 too (I read the reviews!).
There is a BIG difference between the 6 and the 7, and the 7 felt quite big, especially as they are quite 'clompy' boots. I kept the 7 as I really liked the boots and they seemed very sturdy and lovely and warm.
I have now worn them a few times - I agree that they are (still) quite rigid, but they do seem to be softening up just a little, and I have found them quite comfortable (and really warm). They do feel a little wellie like to walk in, but rather that than cold or wet feet. (If they 'give' too much I will try thick socks or heel grips.)
I wear them for dog walking - I think they are just too heavy looking (they don't feel heavy) for a fashion boot, but I do like the appearance. And one lady I met out with the dogs looked at them and said she didn't like to wear her best boots for dog walking, so she obviously thought that's what they are!
So I would recommend them, but only if you get free returns so it won't cost a fortune to get the right size.
Update - I've been wearing these boots for a while now, and am using a second pair of socks (purely because of the sizing issue mentioned before). Still recommend them - my feet have NEVER before stayed dry AND warm.
