We purchased a Photosmart C310 to replace an old HP1500c that had given good service. We went for the C310 because we thought we were buying something that would product better quality and really like the idea of wireless connectivity. Our experiences make us wish we had our old 1500c back!
Most of the time the C310 isn't available on our wireless network - you actually have to go to it and reload it onto the network. You might as well plug in a cable for what it's worth. The paper feed jams regularly or doesn't pull through the paper correctly. It absolutely drinks ink and the cartridges are tiny. We are always buying new ones. On top of this the print quality is just average. Is it me, or have HP really lost their way? Next time we'll look elsewhere and I'd advise you do to the same!
UPDATE 16/4/12 - We returned from holiday last night to find that the power supply for the HP printer has died! Only 5 months old and it's now costing £26 for a new power supply (including Express Deliver - we totally rely on this thing!), which I consider is unacceptable. I wouldn't mind if the printer's performance was any good, but it isn't and If it wasn't for the fact that I'd just purchased a whole lot of cartridges for it (again, it DRINKS ink!) I'd cut my losses and just buy something else. I'm bitterly disappointed and WON'T be bothering to purchase any of HP's poor quality merchandise again!

The HP310 does all kinds of fancy things that are completely useless because a computer does them better! I really don't need to print off colouring in sheets or tickets straight from the printer because it's quicker and easier from my computer. The problem is that the things a printer should be able to do it's terrible at! I can never connect wirelessly so have to give up and go to the wired in desktop. The catch tray is non-existant so the order of printouts get muddled up. It's a beast itself, takes up lots of room on a desk. The software to go with it is bloated and huge (finding a download for my laptop took forever). It can't do double sided printing and the driver messes up the order when you try to do it manually. The ink cartridges must ship half empty or something because they last no time at all. Avoid like the plague!

I'm disappointed with this printer - I've bought HP printers for home and office for about 15 years and this is the first one that I haven't liked.

The reasons are pretty simple -
1. The running costs are too high because it uses large amounts of ink in comparison to other HP printers I have owned. As someone said in one of the other reviews, it drinks ink.
2. I have had to reinstall the HP Solution Centre Centre software several times now because it keeps 'losing' the printer. In fact, I reinstalled it last weekend and I am currently half way through doing so again.

In addition, within the first few days of owning the printer a piece of plastic sheared off in the paper tray mechanism, which means I now have to be very careful how I position the paper tray if I want it to feed paper into the printer.

I was going to give it two stars because the prints are pretty good but, on reflection, I've decided that 'hate' is not too strong a word for the way I feel about it, so one star it is.

Well, my reasons are the same as every one who has given this printer a one star.

So to sum it off, definitely the worst printer I have ever purchased. Speaks loads about where HP is headed, pity Kodak is facing financial trouble as I think HP deserver it more, actually there is a special spot in hell waiting for the HP printer team.

Avoid this printer look anywhere else, absolutely useless at printing and likes to think it is a computer yet my phone does a better job than it when it comes to apps which are useful!

Finally this printer's core drivers have not been added to the official windows 7 drivers list and those you can't truly install it with windows update alone. You have to download the awfully useless HP driver which seems to never be able to find the printer, though my Mac book seems to not have this problem ;(

PS: HP has stated they won't be making drivers for this printer for windows 8 and suggest you buy another one. Unbelievable, clearly this is a company that wants one thing from their customers. Well I suggest you do exactly what they say and buy an Epson or Kodak!

This will be short. I have had this printer for about 1 year and it has never worked. It is simply does everything either bably or not at all. I am a very IT literate person but have wasted hours trying to make this thing work. Nothing works... you can't even update the firmware as it ALWAYS crashed during the download. What HP is doing producing this awful pierce of hardware I do not know. How has a once brillant company fallen so far that it is know producing equipment like this? It is so bad not even will I never but another HP printer I will never buy any hardware made from them HP in the future; I suspect this will not be a problem as any company selling products like this will not be around for much longer anyway!
