If you're looking for MCR here you won't find it. Gerard has very successfully reinvented himself as a sleezy, glam, indie, fuzz pedal using rock star. The album is magnificent and feels like a love letter to Bowie, Bolan and 90's Alt Rock so stop delaying and purchase!

The old MCR stuff was great, they had reached a height of wide acceptance when they headlined Reading festival in 2011 and they could have carried on for years in a similar vain, with small tweaks as the band continued to mature and develop. Its a brave step to relinquish a successful formula and to re-invent yourself; but this latest period of Gerard Ways passion for music is equally awesome. There are some elements of the MCR days that you can still pick out, but these are subtle influences and they are probably more indicative of the musical style of Gerard Way as a singer than being MCR carry overs. His new found direction is both appealing and invigorating.

Really like this album, think it is a good development from My Chemical Romance and there are some very powerful songs on here. I don't give it five stars because I think Gerard has gone too far with the low-fi sound. His voice is way too low down in the mix and it just makes the sound a bit noisy. I think it could have been produced a bit better, would have liked it better.

As many have previously stated, if you're scavenging for any last remains of MCR, you'll only find scraps here, and those are mainly carried through Gerard's style. His debut solo album is simply phenomenal. He has changed his way of doing his music by going into the past of rock. Using fuzz and a whole load of distortion, it almost delves into the glam rock era.

So, anyone who wants to peer into the future of Way's music, look no further! Definitely worth buying, for its sheer awesomeness!

Such an inspiring debut album. elements of genres from the 80's and 90's certain tracks have a Pulp feeling about them but in a great way

I was worried he may have lost some of the spark that made My Chemical Romance the band they was but im happy to say the spark is back and i am glad!!

I'm going to be honest when I first heard this I did not like it at all because it was different...... In saying that I had to accept that Gerard was not going to be doing the same music he did while he was with MCR. And that is okay, so after giving it a good listen without my MCR head on I love it! My favorite songs off the record are: The Bureau, Millions, Brother and How It's Going To Be. Dont judge it so quickly based on the fact it doesn't sound like MCR or how he used too.

I was really excited when I heard Action Cat for the first time, it was so beautiful and perfect and everything I didn't know I wanted form Gerard Way. After reading a few snippets of press from Gerard where he talked about his fuzzy guitars and brit pop influences I got really excited to hear his new album. Sadly I was disappointed when I listened to it for the first time. It just didn't flow for me. Many of the songs reminded me of other artists*, and didn't hold up to the comparison, which was distracting.

I have since listened to it a few times and it has definitely grown on me, I have found myself singing some of the songs to myself, which is always a good sign.

Overall it is a good collection of songs, and I would recommend it to MCR fans, and indeed anyone who enjoys guitar music, it's pretty accessible. I think Gerard is still experimenting with his sound, and I am hopeful that his next album will make me feel the way Action Cat did.

*Blur, Echobelly, Neutral Milk Hotel, Jesus & Mary Chain, Primal Scream, and of course MCR sprang immediately to mind.
