Arguably the most talked-about television show of the 2006-2007 season, the Emmy-nominated fantasy Heroes gives viewers blends comic book-style adventure with plotting and characters as rich and layered as any graphic novel or drama series. Creator Tim Kring's premise is deceptively simple ordinary individuals in locations around the globe discover that they have, for lack of a better term, super powers, and wrestle with this reality while facing challenges both global (the destruction of New York City, for one) and personal (indestructible cheerleader Hayden Panetierre has family issues serious ones, as the true identity of her adoptive father reveals; Milo Ventimiglia's Peter Petrelli, who absorbs other powers, must overcome his own insecurities). Add to this mix a terrific villain Zachary Quinto's Sylar, who hunts and kills people with extraordinary powers like our heroes and viewers have a riveting series that exhibits an almost-perfect balance of cliffhanger thrills (the action and special effects are truly impressive for a network program) and genuine drama that sets the show apart from most speculative fiction (save, perhaps, the revived Battlestar Galactica, which it compares too favourably). --Paul Gaita --This text refers to the Blu-ray edition.See all Product description

If you didn't catch this first time around, then I would recommend it wholeheartedly.
The first thing you notice is how great Heroes looks. The style is very comic-book like in appearance. Secondly you have a lot of really interesting and diverse characters in there, how Heroes weaves these characters together is an art to itself. There are bound to be one or two you connect with, i did with Hiro and Peter. Thirdly is a intriguing and involving story. You are always wanting to know what happens next. You think you know what will happen but you are suprised with the plot twists. So quite honestly this is the most complete and satisfying "sci-fi" series i've seen for years. Its different - its not aimed at just teens or it doesn't contain needless sex, language or violence (well not too much violence !). I eagerly look forward to the next series.
I love Heroes.
Go flying man !
However, I'm sure you already knew all that so I'll talk about the actual box-set. I recently bought this and watched all 25 episodes in only a few days - I couldn't stop myself because it's so addictive. Each disk has a few episodes and some bonus features, which are excellent. These include a full 71 minute pilot episode, many funny and informative commentaries with the cast and creators, special effects, stunts and more.
One of my favourite features, though, was the menu. I know it sounds a bit stupid but it's rare that you get an incredibly thought out and separately shot "trailer" on a DVD. It features Isaac Mendez' loft (A very important set in the series) and swoops around entering the paintings and going to different scenes of the series. It's just a small feature, I know, but makes the DVD all the more epic.
Best of all, however, is the price: at only £10.99 how can you possibly resist!? Seriously, for one of the most fantastically made dramas of all time it's definitely worth a buy. :)
So there is no problem with the show, perfectly good entertainment really. But I do find that thebplay all feature on each disc means that, when you reach the second or third episode on whichever disc you are watching, the vid and audio go out of sync quite badly. Almost to the point where you may aswell be watching a badly dubbed 70's Kung Fu movie. Not sure if it is the boxset or just my player (watching them on an xbox 360) but it's quite annoying.
But I shall still give it three stars as an average...5 if it weren't for the piss poor quality of the package itself...
