This book is OK in covering a limited number of "heroes" and landmarks. I guess a book that truly does justice to the topic would stretch to several volumes, however I am amazed that the most prolific exponent of British aviation up to the 1920s is completely ignored, he doesn't get a single mention in the text anywhere. Claude Grahame-White did more for British aviation in those early days than anyone else, he had many firsts to his name from the first flying school, first night flight, winner of many races, etc. etc. etc. Without his inclusion it can't really be considered a serious text for the subject matter other than for a general interest read I'm afraid
