Product description

Review

Peter Masters puts exhibits in their biblical setting. There are many photographs of the exhibits and extremely helpful timelines. -- Evangelical Times Book Review, A.J. Monty White, January 2005

The book is beautifully illustrated and provides many quotations from inscriptions, with Bible verses alongside. -- English Churchman Book Reviews, April 2005

From the Author

The British Museum holds a huge number of major discoveries that provide direct corroboration and background confirmation for an immense sweep of Bible history. This survey of Bible-authenticating exhibits has been designed as a guide for visitors, and also to give pleasure and interest to readers unable to tour the galleries. In a couple of hours or more it is possible to tour a selection of exhibits which constitute an outstanding summary of the whole field of archaeological discovery relating to the Bible. In today’s atheistic climate most people have no idea how much powerful evidence exists for the literal accuracy of the biblical record.

It is true that the best evidence for the divine inspiration and infallibility of the Bible is to be found within the Bible itself, such as its unique explanation of the human condition, its fulfilled prophecies, its remarkable self-consistent character, its profound teaching, as well as other exclusive attributes marking it out as God’s book.

Yet there are many benefits to be derived from reviewing archaeological discoveries that confirm the historical accuracy of the Bible, because these discoveries reassure seekers, illuminate events and decisively refute the claims of cynics. May this guide be helpful for group visits and personal reading, stimulating for many a new appreciation of the uniqueness of the Scriptures.

If you are going to the British Museum and want an excellent touring guide for that visit to understand many of the artifacts there as they pertain to the Bible - I recommend this book. It is also a great read to build you knowledge of the evidence which shows the Bible as being very accurate (though it stands by itself in that matter). I keep it on my desk and read about an item each day.

This is an excellent book of evidence to back up from other cultures, the bible's claims. Quite an eye-opener for anyone looking for proof in artefacts. Take a bible to compare dates and cultures.

Excellent book for general interest in biblically-related artefacts, as well as for taking round the British Museum.

Compares well with the "Day One" publication for the same purpose.
