Lacy Taylor works as a waitress in Chase McDermott's family restaurant in her home town of Trouble. Her Mother had abandoned her when she was a small child, her Father is a drunk and a criminal. After dropping out of college due to lack of funds, she had flitted from job to job, then her Grandfather died and left Lacy his house. So she has been back in her home town of Trouble for the past two years. Her best friend is Brodie Chase's younger Brother, they have been friends since childhood their relationship is totally platonic. Although Chase her boss riles her quite a bit with his teasing and still using the nickname that he had been calling her since they were young, she has secretly had the hots for him for ever. But, Chase's type is curvy brunettes, not thin blonds like her. But recently a lot has been happening, there is money due on her house, her Father has been seen in the area, the police are looking for him. Someone is stealing at the restaurant, and Her half-sister turns up, whose existence she knew nothing about, can things get worse, well unless you count sleeping with Chase that may have been her biggest mistake.
This is an excellent read, the story is well written and the reader very quickly becomes involved with the characters lives. Lacy is a very independent women, never having been able to rely on anyone, except her Grandfather. She has built a wall around herself which keeps out anyone who might want to get close, because when people get close to Lacy they usually let her down. Chase comes from a close knit family, he and his brothers and sisters have always been there for one another. Unlike Lacy they have all had every advantage. All of the characters in this story are well developed and totally believable. The relationship between Lacy and Chase is very realistic. It was great to read about their story. A real page turner highly recommend.

this book was such a joy to read! There is so much trash out there and somehow Erin Kern manages to get the best bits all crammed into this adorable book making it an absolute page turner which I couldn't put down! It's the ultimate girlie novel with passion, romance, humour and some of the best imagery I've read. Hat's off to Erin Kern! (by the way, her other book is also AWESOME!)

A very emotional tale of true life and the problems we can encounter that can stop us discovering the true power of love.
