The story follows 4 friends, who have been mates since school. However, even though 3 of them meet every other Saturday (if I remember rightly), Roz has fallen out big time with Frankie so the group has been split up somewhat by their argument. However, Ven is determined to get them all together again and to go on the cruise they all promised they would go on when they were 14. It doesn't start in the best way, there's tons of drama even getting all the girls to go on the cruise - what with Olive and her horrible husband David, and Roz's argument with boyfriend Manus - it appears the cruise is jinxed from the start.
However, as soon as they get on the cruise they're all bursting with excitement - and that's when Roz spots Frankie. Throughout this novel there's tons of drama, tons of humour and tons of food and romance! I absolutely loved this novel by Milly Johnson - just like I have with most of her other novels. The restaurants on the ship and their food just sounds delicious and throughout the novel my mouth was watering - going on a cruise sounded so much fun!
Overall, another brilliantly written novel by Milly Johnson. Definitely up there with my favourites of hers.
The four girls go on a cruise and find themselves - no way would I give the story away as it is one of those that draws you in. Indeed I can honestly say that all Milly's books draw the reader in and, thank goodness they all have a happy ending.
As a man who has experienced a lot in life, I found this book a great escape and it put a smile on my face. I highly recommend this book.
Each of the Ladies stories were told in great detail there wasn't any character who I felt like we didn't get to know well I loved this about the book.
Most of the storyline is set aboard the ship or on a trip giving a perfect backdrop to the story.
I really didn't want this one to end................what happened next, thats what I want to know...........maybe a book in waiting.................
Recommend Millie Johnson books, love them all.
Here Come the Girls was a fantastic price on the Kindle sale so I clicked to get my copy quickly and I finished the book in little over a day, I think it could have been quicker if I wasn't trying to prevent it from ending!
This book follows a fabulous group of four ladies who have been friends since school. When Ven tells the girls she has won an all-expense paid cruise for them all it doesn't take much for them to all jump on-board!
Each of the girls are loveable characters in their own way. They all have completely different characteristics which was great as they were easy to tell apart and they also brought something individual to the storyline.
My favourite character had to be Olive, she was a very down to earth gentle and vulnerable character who you prayed would find her happy ending.
It was quite unusual for their not to be a main character. Each of the Ladies stories were told in great detail there wasn't any character who we felt like we didn't get to know well I loved this about the book.
Milly Johnson writes beautifully and manages to engage the reader into the storyline from the word go. You always know there are secrets hidden in her writing but you can never predict when she will choose to reveal them. I love this spontaneous feel.
Milly not only manages to create 4 great female characters but she brings so many other characters into the storyline, again each who have their own little story behind them. I have never read a book with so many full bodied characters.
Milly has quite clearly done her homework on cruises and the locations mentioned in the book. With most of the storyline being set aboard the ship or on a trip the descriptive writing really gives you the perfect backdrop to the story.
This is yet another superb read from Milly Johnson, I really didn't want this one to end.
