Hercules and his friend Ulysses are asked to help a group of fishermen kill a giant sea monster terrorizing their people, in a attempt to kill the beast their ship is sunk and they are ship wrecked in Judea. While there the evil King Seran's soldier mistake Hercules for their enemy Samson and have him and his friends arrested, but Hercules is released on the condition he finds and brings back Samson.

Piero Francisci who launched the craze for these Sword and Sandal films with his two hugely successful Hercules films both starring Steve Reeves. Here he returns to the Hercules films but without Steve Reeves in the lead instead we get Italian Adriano Bellini (more popularly known as Kirk Morris) taking over. He however is fine substitute and gives one of the more impressive performances of his career.

Iloosh Khoshabe a Iranian actor who took up the name Richard Lloyd is also makes a fine appearance as Samson, his most impressive scene is where he kills a entire patrol of soldiers as he stands their launching spears at them as they charge him. Enzo Cerusico however is nothing special as Ulysses, for some reason in these Italy films they always had a scrawny little man playing the military genius.

Here Hercules gets straight into the action and in the first 30 minutes he's harpooned a sea Monster, beaten to death a raging Bull (with two hammer fists to the head) and strangled a Lion all with ease. Later on he is matched with Samson in one of my personal favourite scenes in any Peplum, where they both toss huge boulders at one another and throw each other threw stone walls.

Even with all its action the film never really has a violent feel with the exception of one violent scene where a village who were sheltering Samson are all nailed to the walls of their houses by Seran's soldiers before their village is burnt to the ground.

Overall a fast paced, enjoyable Peplum.

DVD quality is very good

i saw this film at local flea pit about 30 years ago and never forgot it and when i so it for sale i had to have a copy, and i still enjoyed it.the film about Hercules and his crew who are shipped wrecked and are captured by Philistines . Hercules is told to capture Samson in exchange for Ulysses and his friends release ,but when Hercules find Samson its not that easy because Samson his just has strong has him. and when they fight hurling spears,heaving chunks of stone pillars at each other,bending thick iron rods around each other.they develop respect for each other and decide to join forces against the Philistines.good entertaining film.excellent picture quality and sound no extras only a trailer of the film this film plays on my region 2 payer.
