Amazon.co.uk Review

Please Note: If you are looking for books by Mark Edwards, bestselling author of Follow You Home and The Magpies, please visit his Author Page.

About the Author

Mark Edwards writes psychological thrillers in which scary things happen to ordinary people. His first solo novel, The Magpies (2013), reached the #1 spot on Amazon UK. This was followed by What You Wish For (2014), Because She Loves Me (2014; also a #1 bestseller in the UK) and Follow You Home (2015). He also co-writes with Louise Voss. Their novels are Killing Cupid (2011), Catch Your Death (2011), All Fall Down (2012), Forward Slash and a series featuring Detective Inspector Patrick Lennon, starting with From the Cradle (2014) and The Blissfully Dead (2015). Mark grew up on the south coast of England and started writing in his twenties while working in a number of dead-end jobs. He lived in Tokyo for a year before returning to the UK and starting a career in marketing. He now writes full-time and lives in the West Midlands, England, with his wife, their three children and a ginger cat. When he s not writing or looking after children, Mark reads a lot, devours TV box sets and spends far too much time on Twitter and Facebook, where he loves chatting with his readers.

Please note that this is a short story, not a novel, and it is not written by the author who wrote THE MAGPIES - it's just another author with the same name - don't be fooled - readers who like THE MAGPIES will probably not like this book.

Don't be fooled this book is not in the same class as magpies and all other books written by Mark Edwards and Louise Voss . This book is by a different author altogether and you will be sadly disappointed.

No stars. This is truly the worst book I have ever read. How on earth did it get published? Terrible plot, terrible grammar, terrible everything. I agree with others that I have read better stories by eight year olds. Oh, apparently I have to give it at least one star, I really don't.

I normally like Mark Edwards' books but not this one. The story was disjointed and badly written. I only gave it one star because I had to give it something. The only good thing about the book was that it was short.

What a waste of time and money! Not the Mark Edwards I expected. I thought I was imagining half the grammar used, and that I had fallen asleep and missed half the content when I looked at it again. How did this ever get to the publisher? I will always read reviews before purchasing in the future.

Katrina, 28 has a top job, a company car, a house, proud parents and a partner Jae Lee who is 30 years old. Katrina is an attractive, stunning and successful woman but Jae Lee is a charmer and when he bumps into Carla, a waitress with attitude, he desires to develop a relationship with her.

This novella is about the grass appearing greener on the other side. There are three main characters in this story, Katrina the trophy girlfriend, Jae Lee the cheating womaniser and Carla the flavour of the month. You feel sorry for Katrina, hate for Jae Lee and indifferent to Carla caught in the crossfire.

But Jae Lee gets on the wrong side of Carla as this story unfolds. As you read this book, the author Mark Edwards gets on your wrong side too! I have no empathy for Jae Lee as I can’t stand cheating partners. The depiction of Katrina is sickly sweet and glamorous, so I do not warm to her. Carla’s personality is not explored fully and you only get a shallow impression of her. Mark’s writing style is weak and only worthy of a woman’s throw away magazine. To top it all off, this book has not been proof read and it is annoying having to work out the script errors.

Her wrong side is not an original story and is a disappointing read. The ending is overdramatic and unrealistic. I got no pleasure from reading this sad little tale and felt my time was wasted. I suggest you do not bother to download a copy of this very poor novella which got on the wrong side of me. There is nothing I can recommend about this book, so I will vote it the minimum score of 1 star.
