Mairead recalled the dark Viking from a previous raid when he had prevented her being raped during a Viking raid for slaves, valuables and livestock. Gunnar Freysson had not been able to forget the then un named woman, with hair as red as fire and eyes as green as moss.
Gunnar was to return once again with his brother Ulfric and their Viking Hoard they raided several villages, they wanted valuables to trade, strong male backs to build a granary and to row the dragon boats, women to work in the longhouses, care and look after the slaves etc.....
Gunnar had really only one thing in his mind a red haired , green eyed Celt who he was going to make his own, imagine his shock when he finds her, then discovers that not only is she heavily pregnant, she also has a young son Donald but no matter he still intends to return home with them.......
Gunnar and Mairead are now married, they are happy and many stories regarding how they finally reconciled, Mairead loves him very much, he is a strong warrior on the battlefield, he request obedience in his home, however he is a good husband and provider, he never raises a hand to her or her children, which is more than can be said of her previous Celt husband who had beaten both her and Donald he was a cruel man, when he drowned at sea she felt no real sadness.
This was a wonderful second book in the Viking series written by Ashe Barker, it flowed well including many of the same characters but was a very independent story. The characters were strong, the plots were very well thought out and I guarantee that once you start reading you will find it impossible to put down until you reach the end......................
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

This book links in with Her Rogue Viking. This is Gunnar and Maireads story. During a raid Gunnar stopped her from being raped and let her escape. Ten months later he returns again for her in another raid. This time she is heavily pregnant. I loves the way that Gunnar accepted the baby and her older son as his own. He had to help deliver the baby. Misread was a strong character who was very protective of her kids. It was also quite good to see the events from Her Rogue Viking from her perspective and meet her and Gunnar properly. I received an ARC copy of this book from Stormy Night Publications and this is my voluntary honest review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Round Two--Gunnar and Mairead 24 May 2017
By KKT - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I happen to know that Ashe Barker is intrigued by Vikings and that is how this three-book series came about. And how lucky is that for us, the readers! Once again, Ashe provides a fascinating historical background to this engrossing story. Building on the first story, Her Rogue Viking, Ashe spins the tale of Mairead and Gunnar. Gunnar, bastard brother to the rogue Viking, is smitten by Mairead, a flame- haired, captured slave even though she is pregnant and has a young son. And the attraction is more than mutual. This is a love story based on the building of trust between a man and a woman. The Viking may be dark but he has a tender side, too, which he has the courage to show to his Celtic beauty and finally to her young son. A new home in a new land, a new definition of family and new threads of a mystery hinted at in the first book in this series .And yes, this dark Viking is an Alpha who provides a spanking or two when deemed necessary and yes, the sex is hot, heavy, passionate and tender. This is an altogether most satisfying book and I cannot wait for the final book.

3.0 out of 5 stars repeat, repeat 20 May 2017

I read her first novel and enjoyed it. So when the second book came out I bought it unfortunately it repeats the first one. I had problems finishing it. I get so disappointed when that happens. The only thing that is worse is a cliffhanger.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Conquers all 16 May 2017
By Donna L - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
This book will take you a journey that may disturb you
at times but also intrigue the reader. The characters
are deep and rich with real inner conflict. The
story flowed well at a good pace.It was also
a good length.Mairead had been saved by
Gunnar on a previous raid by the Vikings,
he was intrigued by her beauty and can not
forget the flamed hair celt.Mairead did not
escape the next raid by the Vikings and
was captured.The journey by longboat
was arduous,Mairead was heavily pregnant
and scared for her baby's life. She also
was concerned about her young son Donald,
she was unsure of his fate.Gunnar saved
Mairead's life again and claimed her has
his own.Their life together takes many
twist and turns including a new born baby,
danger,suspense and hot sex scenes.These
were hard time in history to live, the slaves
were treated harshly.Gunnar and Mairead
love was inspiring, against all odds they
managed to carve out a life for themselves.
You can read this book as a standalone but
I recommend reading them in order to
familiarize yourself with the characters
and their relationships.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A series that keeps getting better 14 May 2017
By Heart5 - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I really liked the first book in this series, but I think the author managed to improve on the story with this second release. This book focuses on Mairead and Ulrich's brother Gunnar. Mairead is in the late stages of pregnancy when the viking raid occurs, yet she somehow still manages to catch the eye of Gunnar. Mairead had not had the same quality of life as Fiona, so life with Gunnar was much easier for her to accept. Gunnar was the son of a slave, so it was much easier for him to accept Mairead. That left this story with less conflict between the two MCs. Although I liked the conflict in the first book, I think I liked this simpler approach better.

Just like in the first book, the story was very well written. The characters were well developed and I connected with them almost immediately. This story could definitely be read as a standalone, but I think having read the first book in the series made it better. The author definitely has me hooked with this series.

I received an ARC of this book from Stormy Night Publications.
