Product Description

Review

"A true heartbreaking story with a beautiful ending." (Amazon.com reader review)

"From the first page, I couldn't put this book down... I loved the dual perspective from both the child herself and the reporter who from the beginning covered the story... Despite the incredible sadness and shock I experienced at times reading the book, in the end it was so inspiring and uplifting" (Amazon.com reader review)

"This is an amazing account. If it were not true, no one would believe it. It is exceptionally well written... I read through the book quickly cover to cover to know the story. I will most definitely read it over again, slowly, for the wisdoms of this brave and resilient survivor." (Amazon.com reader review)

"Starts out like "true crime". Grabs you in with each compelling detail. A real "page turner".

Neither Katie nor Carolyn backs away from any detail, no matter how painful or difficult it is. This is a formidable, comprehensive examination of an amazing person, presented in a compellingly readable way.

A "must-read"." (Amazon.com reader review)

The strength of this lady is astonishing and gives hope for others who may have been in a similar terrible situation.
Her future looked terrible but she has found an understand partner who has helped her to continue to lead a normal life with a family. Well done.
The relationship between Katie and the author must have been trusting as some of the situations must have been awful to relive them through some one who you would think would want to add their own elements. This did not happen thankfully.

This is a very engaging book from the start, although it gets a little slow towards the end. It shows a good insight into abduction, neglect and abuse and the strong determination of a little girl who subsequently grows into a beautiful young woman with none of the problems that she could have had. That in itself makes it a must read.

This story really scares me because it proves that there are real monsters in this world, so my fathers assertion that monsters do not exist was a lie, how can animals like Sal and Linda supposedly Katie's godparents do what they did to her, abuse both sexual and emotional and to use her as almost a bonded slave when she should have been protected by these ' things ' you cannot call them human beings, then at the age of nine she has to survive an experience far worse than her horrible life to that date, she was kidnapped locked in a hidden cellar and abused by another nutcase called big John Esposito who in his demented and sick fantasy believed he was saving this poor child, how Katie was able to survive her childhood and make it to womanhood is a testament to the courage and fortitude of the human spirit that is Katie Beers who against all the odds survived, Katie you are an example to all who read this desperate story of debauchery and wrongdoing that shames mankind.

This has definitely been a book i couldn't put down. Obviously the story is heartbreaking and also inspirational but I also enjoyed how it split between the victim and the journalist who was investigating the story. I haven't read a book like that before. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes true stories.

This is a must read, truly inspirational. What an amazing lady Kate has turned out to be. No one should ever have to go through what she experienced. I have cried so much reading this book, and couldn't put it down. I wish Kate and her family all the very best for the future.
