I was looking forward to this sequel so was more than disappointed to find that it wasn't a patch on the first one. I was bored by halfway through but carried on on the premise of the first book being so good and in the hope that it would improve. It didn't. It was waffley, all over the place and unnecessarily wordy. It was totally unbelievable and I'm surprised the characters weren't dizzy from the number of times they about faced, some of them even appeared to have split personalities. SLIGHT SPOILER The fact that Mikey apparently had every reason to be upset that anybody else could even think about looking at Shyla because he had seen her first and had "called first dibs", so this would break some sort of "bro code", was so utterly ridiculous it's almost laughable. The sex scenes were tediously repetitive, as was the dialogue and vocab throughout, and there was no connection between the 2 main protagonists at all.
I've found this author's books to be very hit and miss, so much so that when I read Cake, I was convinced that it wasn't by the same author as Beautiful Ink, there really was that much of a gaping chasm. I feel the same about this one and as it would appear I've read more misses than hits, so I won't be bothering reading the next one. I'll be shocked if the next one isn't jumping on the underground fighting band wagon, (a genre which for me has been bled dry now). The last 2 chapters were basically an advert for this, which also irritated me no end.
Returned for a refund.

It is no secret that I have loved everything that Nicole Reed has ever written but I have to say without a doubt this book by Nicole blew me away.

Hell’s Ink takes up seamlessly from Beautiful Ink. There was no re-reading involved. From chapter 1 the book flowed effortlessly and I was hooked from the first moment I started reading until the very last page.

I loved Beautiful Ink, it was the first MC book I had ever written and was desperate to read this next instalment of this series and I was not disappointed.

Hold Dawson, the Vice Prez of Hells Highwayman had issues to deal with from the woman who left him broken and beaten to life of the Vice Prez of the club. Life was not going to be easy for Hold. He had friendships to re-build and wounds to heal. The Brotherhood that was the Hells Highwayman had problems and it was up to Hold and a few other followers to deal with these problems for the sake of the club. These problems and issues would ultimately bring drama & betrayal but would it bring closure, acceptance and understanding these are things that Hold needed to survive.

I loved the dynamics of Hold, I admit in Beautiful Ink I was not his fan but in this his story, I saw the pain, anguish and hurt he dealt with on a daily basis. I also saw the capacity he had to love, to do the right thing by people and I fell hook line and sinker in love with this man.
The way Nicole has written this book is breathtaking; she not only tells the story of Hold & Mikey his best friend but of every character with a few new ones along the way.
