As a child, I enjoyed watching Larry in "I dream of Jeannie" and then when I was 9, I was aware of Dallas and JR's part in it and wanted to watch it but wasn't always allowed to, probably being too young of course! I was gripped by the mystery surrounding the shooting of JR at the time, like many others. During a period of unemployment a couple of years ago, I watched every single episode of Dallas and movies that related to it, as I wanted to watch it with adult eyes and not miss anything. It was amazing of course, very ahead of its time with its themes and the early days were great. Larry Hagman excelled in the role of JR, even though he was clearly nothing like him in real life, which is a testament to his acting skills and ability.
This autobiography is moving, personal, witty, informative and thoroughly enjoyable to experience. It's well-written, to the point and is charming to read, charming like Larry himself. As well as being about himself, he mentions his wife, Maj, a lot in the book and it's lovely to hear about how they have been together through thick and thin for so many years. It must be so difficult for her and his children now with him being gone.
I wish I had read this book while Larry was alive, in a sense, he is alive through his book - he's had a heck of an interesting life and nobody can take that away!
A well deserved 5 star rating for both Amazon and the authors.
Don't get me wrong, the rest of Larry's life is all well and good and made an enjoyable read but, for me and others who are too young to really remember the pre Dallas years, it's not really what you would expect.
For true Larry Hagman fans only.

Enjoyed it during holiday. It gives a great insight in Larry Hagmans life and it's written in a entertaining style.
Can recommend it!
I love Dallas, and Larry Hagman is still the greatest reason to watch it. Even now, just to wait a small reference to his now-deceased character will be worth it. Read morePublished on 14 July 2013 by MR P BHARJ
