Hell To Pay is one hell of a crime fiction novel, a gritty and unrelenting story of how young woman faces a terrible crime by two deviant scourges to society who murder her own parents in front of her very eyes then rape her and leave her for dead. Waking up in a hospital with no recollection to the horror that has befallen her, her mind blocking it out, she finds herself bit by bit remembering the events that transpired. No matter how hard one wants to forget the past, it always has a habit of coming back, sometimes because you need to be reminded of the pain to make you stronger and determined to not let the same mistake happen twice, as in the case of our heroine Nancy, when she recalls the brutal injustice that happened, with the fiends responsible still at large, she is fuelled by the strength to avenge her parents and find retribution for herself by exacting her savage vengeance on the heinous thugs. There will be hell to pay and hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.

The book is a gripping, no holds barred tale of rape and revenge, just like the classic 70s and 80s exploitation films like Meir Zarchi's "I Spit on Your Grave" and Abel Ferrara's "Ms. 45". If you are a fan of the Death Wish style revenge movies, this is definitely one powerful and compelling story to read. I highly recommend it.

What a fantastic opening to a series!!!!

I told the author I was off to bed to start this book last night, what I didn't bank on was staying up to read it from cover to cover. I really enjoyed it.

Its brilliant as its the start to the series. It opens up with Nancy going to her parents home to visit, as she goes in, the usual sounds of her parents activity is not heard. Only upstairs movements, until......

OMG, just imagine the scene of your parents brutally murdered in their own home.

The criminals were still in the house!! I was on the edge of my seat there in bed in the dark reading this.....made it worse I reckon!!! I could hear them coming down the stairs and ...........
BANG!

She couldn't escape, they had her as a hostage.....

What happened to her left her in a psychiatric hospital some fourteen months later.

I don't think I'll say much more than....

She's out for REVENGE...

The ending of this book will lead you into book 2, which I am anxiously waiting for and the author said she would contact me, I just CANNOT WAIT....

I saw a reviewer say that they didn't think much of this story, however.....this is the prequel to the series, its short, to the point and leaves you gasping and hanging on a limb......
For me, the author has whet my apatite for more, and like I say, I cannot wait.

My thanks go to the author Jenny Thomson for allowing me to read and review this book honestly, authors never know if someone will enjoy the book they read or not, and neither does the reader, but this reading *smiles* is enormously happy

I want book 2!!!!!

Jenny Thomson's Hell To Pay is a wonderfully assured debut. Characters that leap off the page, sparkling, dark dark writing interspersed with wicked humour, fantastic dialogue, kick-ass female lead and a superb storyline should make this novella a classic on the bookshelf of any Noir fan.
I enjoyed this highly original tale of vengeance immensely. A bloody good read. (Katy O'Dowd, author, Memento Mori)

What an excellent start to this series! The characters are easy to relate to and I don't feel that we have fully met them yet..... I couldn't stop reading this once I started and now I must get the next one in this series.
