"Heechee Rendezvous" is, for me, the strongest of the the four novels that comprise the Heechee Saga. In this, the third volume, all of Pohl's complex and ingenious concepts and rich characters come together to form a truely satisfying story, as well as set up an intriguing conflict for the final book, "Annals of the Heechee". It is definitely worth your while to read the first two books, if for no other reason than to reach this one; I wouldn't recommend reading them out of order.
"Heechee Rendezvous" is one of my favorite sci-fi books to date.

There was a gap in my Pohl collection and this has filled it. Perfection was not needed, just readable and clean

I found it easy to pick up the story line and that this book was equally as good as Gateway. However, unlike others I skipped the second book in the series, given that I picked up the story line without any issues probably doesn't say too much about the second book.

good read - the whole of the series is a good read. Bit blasting on big science but good fun.

Well, i read the first heechee book "Gateway" and i found it very enjoyable and fun to read. Then i read the second heechee book "Beyond the blue event horizon" which i got bored of very quickly! it started off ok, following a similar pattern to the first book, but unfortunatly it turned into a boring soap which evolved around certain charactors daily lifes, which got very boring, it didnt evolve in anyway, the pace was slow, but i pressed on and gave it a chance and managed to finish the book, the last few pages left me very intrueged to find out more! So, i thought i would give the third book a try, "heechee rendevouz" and surprise surprise, it starts off in the boring manner of the second book, full of boring, never evolving stuff, and i honestly put the book down after the first 2 chapters and have not bothered with it since.
That said, if you have the patiance to read out the boring space filling parts, then the books are probably a very good read and the overall concept of heechee is very good. Unfortunatly i just dont have the patiance.
