I love my Klipsch dock and this adapter has made me so happy that I can dust it off and use it again to listen to music on my iphone and ipad or any other Bluetooth device. Fantastic!
It's worth nothing that I had considered swapping my existing unit for one with bluetooth built in but i've always been happy with the sound quality and it still functions brillianty so i felt an upgrade somewhat unnecessary. Therefore I was glad to be offered this for review meaning I could keep my existing setup but gain that wireless freedom I was after.
I'm glad to report the Hednoise makes a tidy job of such a task! The device itself its quite small and sits unobtrusivly in the dock via the 30 pin connector - which means docks designed for the lightning connector will not be compatible. However this fortunately means that devices with the lightning connector can be paired to a 30 pin dock via bluetooth again removing the need for an expensive upgrade.
Once you've docked your the Hednoise, simply turn on bluetooth on your device and press the button on the adapter. This sends it in 'pairing mode' which allows it to be discovered by your phone/iPod etc. If a passcode is asked for I found 0000 did the trick.
Once you're paired its pretty straightforward from here, any sound emitted from your device will be automatically sent via bluetooth to the adapter and through your speakers, bliss! And best of all no need to get up to select the music, perfect wireless freedom and the sound quality seems no worse than a direct connection. I'm pleased to say battery life seems to not be affected too greatly either which was one of my other concerns.Read more ›
This little gizmo is the perfect answer. It is tiny, so easily fits into the cradle where the phone used to sit, and connects onto the 30-pin connector.
Set-up is virtually non-existent. There is no on/off button, and no battery. The unit takes its power from the dock. When you plug it in, a blue LED flashes to show it is awaiting pairing. Just turn on Bluetooth on the phone and it will show the HEDNOISE as an available device. Pair it, and you are done. Music flows out from the speaker immediately.
The range is pretty good too. My daughter left her bedroom, went downstairs and into the kitchen and it was still playing away quite happily, with no glitching.
The only possible downside I can see to this device is that (once paired) the bright blue LED stops flashing and remains on. If this was right in your eye-line, you might find it a little bright and annoying.
However, the up-sides are many:
- simplicity to set up
- no batteries to buy
- excellent range for reception
- enables you to connect a new iPhone (or indeed any other brand of smartphone) to an old 30-pin iPhone dock
- gives you a wireless capability if your old dock did not have it
- frees you to keep the phone with you whilst the music still plays
And at a price that is cheaper than Apple charge for the 30-pin to Lightening converter, this has got to be a better option. A winner.
Now I am off to look for someone who is selling off an old 30-pin B&W Zeppelin on the cheap, as I reckon this gizmo gives me access to a bargain dock for my Samsung Galaxy...!
