Oh I love this book. From the age of 11 until I was 16 I spent every day of my school holidays on Queen's Building plane spotting. Unusual for a girl!! And even now I am a pensioner I still have the love of commercial aircraft and airports. Living near Gatwick I can watch the planes in my garden but this book have brought back some very happy memories apart from showing me what has been going on at Heathrow in the last 20 years.

I love "Behind the Scenes" publications, this one is first class. The diagrams and photographs are excellent, the text is very informative, the author went to a lot of trouble to balance the theme just right, not too simple, but interesting enough to read every word!

What a fantastic book, it is very informative and well presented. There is stacks of information dating from 1929 - about the workings of an international airport. There are chapters about how the runways are constructed, plus atc, security, airline operations, cargo handling, and many more. This book is a welcome addition to my library. If you are interested in aircraft, and airports this book is for you. Fantastic pictures of the airport and aircraft.

This is a book that will take a front (Heath)row location on my Aviation book shelf, well written, well laid out and nicely sectioned so as to make puting it down and starting again easy. I will recommend to any aviation buff.

Great book, very informative covering every aspect of Heathrow and how it works and what is involved in such a complex topic, supported by a great number of quality photographs and illustrations.

Compared to other Haynes books this is really weak and simplistic. A lot of information seems like it has been regurgitated from Heathrow or BA PR material, and nothing seems in depth (just republishing lists of certain stats doesn't provide detail). Some pretty illustrations but again not very informative. Very disappointed compared to other Haynes aviation books, I learnt hardly anything from it.

Aviation enthusiast? Love airports, want to learn more about Heathrow? If you answer yes, buy it! Excellent publication in the Haynes style. Hoping Gatwick and Stansted will be on the drawing board for the future. Easy to read and understand. A very worthwhile purchase.
