Wow!

What a book!

I am ashamed to say that I started this series a year ago and I have only just got around to reading more. Boy have I been missing out!

Move over Jay, Jack is now my favourite. I just couldn't get enough of him, dark and brooding and the right amount of scary, just the way I like them!!

I was just as enamored with Hearts of Fire as I was with Six of Hearts, this series is just so beautiful and colourful. It's so bold and bright and well written that you can't help but fall in love with every single word that the author has written.

These books are larger than life and L.H Cosway has so elegantly captured the essence perfectly within the pages. She has a way with words that capture the imagination and the heart and leave you wanting more. I didn't want it to end!

I can not wait to read more from this series.

I was entranced by the cover of this a long time before I realised it was part of the Hearts series. I'd not long since finished the first book Six of Hearts, which I loved, and I couldn't wait to read more books in this series, and it was only after I'd bought this that I realised it was Jack's story.

I did enjoy this, just not as much as the first. Jay just fascinated me with his magic and the whole back story and everything just blew my mind. This one, Jack seemed hot and sexy and the fire-breathing...but it didn't grab me as much. I wasn't as sucked into the story.

The description for the third book in the series has me intrigued as to what King's story will be about and I've already got it on my kindle to read but I'm not going to read it yet.

I really enjoyed this book, LH Cosway once again delivered the goods: engrossing plot, excellent writing and likeable and sympathetic characters. What stopped me from giving this book a full 5 stars is the fact that, while the hero, Jack McCabe, is one hot, interesting character, I found myself drawn more towards a secondary character, Oliver King. King was written as a real tortured soul that I cannot wait to read his book next! Also, the appearance of Jay Fields, the hero of the predecessor book, Six of Hearts, had somehow eclipsed Jack's shine, in my opinion. I suppose it is just me since Jay remains to be my favourite LH Cosway hero.

Really I would like to have given this book 3.5 stars, because I did enjoy reading it, it's not really worth a 4.
That being said I liked the characterisation, but the storyline was a bit predictable, and maybe there could have been a bit more depth in the the storylines.
I would read another book by this author.

Loved this book and love this author. She writes stories that make you feel like you know the characters. I like the twist in the last quarter of the book bringing in a characters sibling. L H Cosway is an amazing storyteller!

“Just before he left, he kissed the shell of my ear and murmured, ‘You have never been invisible to me, flower. You’re all I see.’”

This is only the second novel by this author that I’ve read and I absolutely adore her writing style. She’s witty and compelling with complex heroes, and sweet but strong heroines.

Jack McCabe is Jay Fields’ (Six of Hearts) long-lost brother. Jack is a thrilling fire-eater. But, for as many thrills as he gives the audience, he is just as closed off to people in the real world.

Lille Baker lives under her domineering mother’s thumb. She longs to escape her small Irish town, follow her passion for painting, and find new adventures. The owner of the travelling circus offers her a way to escape her stifling life.

Lille was fascinated by Jack from the moment she sees him. He is taciturn and mysterious. He tries to dissuade her from joining them but this opportunity is too good to turn down, and she sneaks out of her home to join the nomadic group.

I loved the first book about charismatic, charming Jay. Jack is opposite in character. His upbringing has shaped his nature, his character, and his dark tastes. Innocent Lille draws him in – her beauty, her openness, her kindness, and her beautiful skin.

I found this novel incredibly erotic, wonderfully colourful, and just so gripping! Jack and Lille’s relationship is a slow burn but it’s fireworks when they eventually come together. I adored Jack’s emotional intensity, and Lille’s sweetness and bravery.

Gah! Loved, loved, loved it!

Another great read from L.H. Cosway.

I loved the concept of this book; I mean who didn't entertain fanciful notions of running off with the circus at some point? And that's exactly what Lille does in order to escape her overbearing, controlling mother. I adored Lille as MC, and loved her progression throughout the story. I especially loved that she was an artist and it really appealed to my creative side.

Jack was very gruff to start off with, but he was very protective of Lille from the get-go which was sweet. He was a swoon-worthing lead man. Their romance is a little unconventional but it works.

The plot around who was attacking the girls on the set was a little predictable, and very much secondary to the relationship between Jack and Lille, but that's how I prefer it.

Secondary characters were again well-developed, and I particularly warmed to Marina, King, and Lola.

I spent an anxious few chapters waiting for Jay and Matilda to show up, but boy was it worth the wait. This is one of my absolute fav things about series like this - when we get to catch up with other beloved characters.

L.H. Cosway is adept at writing strong emotional scenes that bleed off the page. When Lille cried after reading Jack's letter, I felt her compassion and her empathy. When the brothers eventually reunited, it tugged at my heart strings. I could completely visualize the scene as it unfolded, even down to the girls linking hands as they watched from the sidelines. Superbly written.

The only issue I had with this book is Jack's so-called 'fetish.' I was very uncomfortable with this aspect of his character because, for me, Jack was suffering from deep-seated psychological issues as a result of the trauma of his childhood.
