Had not read this author before and was therefore pleasantly surprised. Good serial killer novel set in Yorkshire with some good characters. Would recommend for late night or holiday readers.

This was ok but the writer kept explaining things that to anyone who reads this type of book is obvious and it became a little tedious. The writer also repeated phrases. However I enjoyed the story and how it all pulled together over many years. I may read the next in the series not sure

I read this book pretty quickly in only a few sittings which is quite unusual for me. This pacy police procedural introduces us to DS Hunter Kerr and his colleague DC Grace Marshall. The scope for other characters to be introduced is already there and gives the opportunity for plenty more outings.
The setting is the former mining area of South Yorkshire, an area I know quite well. Perhaps it is because I know the area and dialect that I didn't struggle with the dialogue.
The plot moves along at a fair lick from both the police and murderer's perspective. I liked that as nothing annoys me more than a dithery story! Hunter is our hero in this book but I am glad that all the glory is not put down to only him. A good portrayal of team work.
I would agree with another reviewer about typos. A bit irritating but the story made up for that.
A well thought out plot with some surprising twists which add to the tension. A good read which I would recommend.

This is a good read and it kept me turning the pages. I've only given it 4 stars because there were some typos (my pet hate) and they were distracting. I assume the words and phrases I didn't understand are Yorkshireisms. Apart from that I would recommend this book.

Liked this book, fast paced and full of references that are instantly recognisable in South Yorkshire. Makes a nice change from the predictable american glamour.

The first time I've read any of this authors work and have to say I really enjoyed it. I found the characters in the book were easy to gel with and the story flowed keeping you interested. Liked DS Hunter and his side kick they seem to make a good team and found having a woman working alongside him complimented the storyline as always it seems the main police characters are always men. Since finishing this book I've now ordered books 2 & 3 in the series so there must be something about these books. I don't believe in spoilers so not saying about the plot otherwise pointless in buying this book as on several occasions I've had purchases spoilt buy customers telling the out come and spoiling the book. If you want a good British police story then try this one
