An excellent book with beautiful photographs which encourage you browse through and happen upon dishes that you might not have thought of making. You find a very comprehensive list of recipes - all calorie counted by individual item (so easy to recalculate if you need to change any ingredients).

I received my copy yesterday and have already made one of the dishes (Leek and crunchy carrot gratin) and it was easy to follow and really delicious. I like Belinda’s preambles to the recipes which gives you a real sense of her personal involvement in them.
I am following 5:2 and will find this book very useful - and not only on fast days.

The beautiful photographs in this book provide a wonderful feast for the eyes as much as the delicious and healthy recipes nourish the body!. Belinda Berry has enjoyed the benefits of cutting the calories on just two days a week, both in health and appearance, and she shares her experiences - very interesting and informative. All her recipes are carefully calorie-counted, so can be planned for both 'fast' and 'feast' days, and are full of flavour and interest. Highly recommended!

Having started a 5:2 diet I decided to get a book to inspire me to be more adventurous . If it's fun, tasty and something I look forward to I will be more inclined to stick to it. I read lots of comments on books in this area and looked at many many sample pages and this book seemed to tick lots of boxes. As it is called 5:2 I presumed that there would be lots of sample menus adding up to 500 calories....NOT .
I am flicking backward and forward to work out a days sensible eating why not sections on Brekfast,lunch and dinner?? So many nice meals but some/ a lot seem quite high in calories( unless I eat one meal a day)

I can highly recommend this book. I have been following the 5:2 intermittant fasting way of eating since last September and since then have evolved my thoughts and ways of eating. Belinda's book has been thoughtfully created with a plethora of recipes that suit both fasting and non fasting days. it's also a great all round book for anyone that wishes to eat thoughtfully. I have a bookcase and kindle full of cookery books and this one delivers, not only is it laid out so you can easily find the recipes, it has lovely pictures. An essential element of any cookery book for me. So far I have made the Carrot and Leek Crunchy Gratin, Chicken with Chorizo And Butter Beans, Oaty Chick pea. crumble and Salmon Stuffed with Herbs and pine nuts. All recipes are very simple to cook, and very very tasty. I refer to Belinda's book for inspiration, particularly when planning my fast days or wanting something healthy but satisfying.

The ingredients in all the recipes in this beautifully presented book are calorie counted, taking the tedium out of dieting and allowing one to make small changes without increasing the kcals.
Lavishly illustrated throughout with photographs of the dishes and also those of fruit and vegetables that have the gravitas of a Dutch Renaissance still life, Berry and her husband are photographers of considerable talent.
Her enthusiasm for cooking shines through in her choice of fresh ingredients with which she conjures up healthy meals influenced by cuisines from around the world. Her instructions are clear and practical with many helpful suggestions.
The much underused cauliflower comes into its own as a low calorie alternative to rice and mashed potatoes, recipes that are so simple yet so very clever.
You don't have to suffer the 'diet blues' if you have this book!

Cookery books with recipes we want to eat don't talk about calories, any that mention calories don't have the kind of stuff we want to eat. We had no choice, we had to put on weight, m'lud. But now an exception, a book full of wonderful recipes and fully detailed calorie count for each recipe and each ingredient. Easy to work out any small adjustments and easy to learn the good and bad. I always thought my body would take care of itself but in the fifties and sixties you can find yourself discarding half your wardrobe every year. This book is making it easy for an old dog to learn the fiddle. Quite apart from matters of gravity we have travelled and have a taste for food from the four corners and these recipes are inspirational and beautifully illustrated.

what a fantastic book Ive only tried one receipe but if thats anything to go by its well worth fasting Belinda has brought together seasonal veg and turned them into a banquet but still low calorie the receipe I tried was leek and crunchy carrot topped gratin and it made my tastebuds go WOW well done Belinda cant wait to try some more xx
