I discovered this preacher some years back. It is no longer fashionable to read collections of sermons but this person is an exception. Although her sermons are overlong in my opinion, they are written in a lyrical style

The author is good at story-telling, painting evocative word pictures.

It's good to have plenty of sermons on the Old Testament - so many preachers follow the Roman Catholic advice (rule?) always to preach on the Gospel.

This is Gospel Medicine published with a new name. It's a wonderful book, I recommend it, and I bought it because I thought, "Oh good, something new from Barbara Brown Taylor, one of my favorites!" But it's not new. Don't let the 2013 publication date fool you.

Great stories mixed together with wonderful humor, biblical wisdom and common sense. Thoroughly enjoyable, and sometimes a bit uncomfortable, which is good for the soul!

My mother loves everything written by this author. Very down to earth writing.
